With the exception of the first White Ferrari, I don't think any of the enhanced hoppy beers are any better than the DDH counterparts. I couldn't do a fresh side by side but the IPAs are not noticeably different IMO.
And no, nobody can actually explain it, "proprietary technique, blah, blah" - while I'm sure they do something slightly different to the beer - the reason is really just marketing, I don't overthink it.

I appreciate all the feedback. In general, I'm going to be about 2 hours west of RVA. BUT, the last time I was in the area I was about 3.5 hours S of RVA, and I made the ridiculous round-trip drive before work one day (I was starting work about 6pm, working till about 3am.) Depending on how timing works, I'd really like to drive in if for no other reason than to just grab some to go options if there is a good selection at the time.

Depending on where you are staying and how long you are in the area for they do ship within Virginia (along with a few other states) too. That might help save a long trip. New releases go online on Tuesdays. They stated the Anniversary beers will be in person pickup only but I would assume if a good bit is leftover the week following Anniversary Week they will begin to put some up to be shipped.

I think you are in the HR area also, was it clear if the NFK releases are Tuesday also, or the typical Wed?

I do believe the drop is on Tuesday for all locations with exception to the releases that are dropping on Friday.

Also from speaking with a certain taproom manager, I believe the waxed special bottles this year are going to come out on Friday and each of the three locations will be getting a different bottle. If this ends up proving true it will be interesting to see how it works out

I've heard of proxies meaning somebody else picking up your beer under your name for releases from breweries that have memberships or clubs. What does the "no proxies" mean in this case?

Proxy is exactly as you stated, but it doesn't have to be for a club. It just means that you purchase the beer online and assign a proxy to pick it up for you. You are usually given a barcode (or order #) to give them so that they can pick it up.

No proxy means they will not allow you to order online and have someone else pick it up. You have to go there, yourself, and purchase it first-hand.

Personally I am not very interested in buying these bottles (that's what draft is for) but this is a pretty cool idea to release different bottles at the three locations.
Also - no classic black label "regular" BA SF this year? That's the one I buy the most of. haha. I guess the two non adjunct bourbon versions are the subs.

Very much in the same boat as you are with the three waxed bottles, but definitely a cool idea to break them up over the three different locations. Curious if that becomes the norm with some of the smaller batch special releases.

Pretty disappointed there is no regular BA SF. Like yourself, that is the one I typically stock up on. Year in and year out its always been stellar in my personal opinion and it cellars well also. Overall I am pretty pleased with this years variety and happy to see that they didn't put candy bars and other crap in everything.

List of what's releasing this week. Copied from Veil's post this morning. My understanding is everything releases tomorrow, 4/26, when they open at 4pm with the exception of the five Friday releases and those cellared bottles part of the Friday scratchers.
