Grabbed it in Eagan also. France 44 looked like they had the Vanilla, but not regular.

My palate is nowhere near great, but I thought I got much more s'more and vanilla flavor out of the regular Deth than the Vanilla Deth this year. Not to say that either are bad beers, just different.

2016 & 2017 Deth's Tar on draft at the Taproom.

As this beer is a better than ever currently, I can't say this is a huge draw for me, but I'm mildly interested to take a trip to the past.

I love vintage stouts on tap. I’ve never been burned by oxidation on draft like I have been by packaged beer. But yea, I totally understand what you’re saying. The recipe has been drastically improved since ‘16 & ‘17. I’m sure these kegs will be very nice, but I’m really excited to drink these most recent vintages when 2021 and 2022 are on draft 4 or 5 years from now. That’ll be awesome

No argument here as I always prefer the most recent vintage of Deth’s Tar myself. Perspectivewise though, I’d just think of these as experiential opportunities for fans to check in on an old favorite that was stored cold its entire life with zero temperature fluctuations. It’s a chance to try it in the best condition possible, for fun. I know you aren’t saying this, but so many think that every additional year on a vintage is some kind of expectation of quality improvement, so I always like to just point out that it’s just about it being different, not better. I know you know this, just pointing out for anyone else newer to the forum. ‘16 vs ‘17 is the beginning of the shift to when big changes were made so that’s a pretty interesting side by side. Hope you all are well

Careful. Might end up with a death by vanilla scenario.

Just to be clear- you are putting all those ingredients into a blender?

Gravedigger Billy is tasting great right now. Any hint of peaty smokiness has subsided and tastes more like what a hardwood fire smells like when it's been going for hours and it's just the embers.

32 Rev taps at the 2 Beer Cellar locations this weekend. Looks like easy drinkers to plenty of BA including vintages. Sounds like a fun one with the warm weather coming too

I believe I said this a while back. If I did, it's worth repeating. This beer is very underrated if you are going by Untappd. This is an excellent BA Scotch Ale. And with Backwoods Bastard being a gateway BA beer for me many years ago, the style holds a special place in my heart (liver?).

Backwoods Bastard was one of my favorites. Don't drink Founders now, so having a banger BA Scotch Ale pretty available is so nice especially when it's executed a little bit different than the baseline.

Stopped in today and '17 and '20 vintages of Deth's Tar were on. And, it was fun to try 5oz glasses side-by-side!

2017 was a very solid, straight forward barrel aged stout. I'd give it a solid B grade. 2020...my word, this was dark berry accented, barrel-forward and complex. I'd give this an A, no question.

Another drop of Revolution beers in the Twin Cities this week. Scott's Liquor in St. Paul has Deth's Tar and Cafe Deth.
Cafe Deth was $24 per 4-pk. Is that the going rate for it in MN? Seemed like stores in Chicago had it for $32-34 when I was last in town.. maybe cheaper in MN because we got the leftover cans from Oct

That is the price of DT normally. Likely didn’t get marked correctly, potentially because they share the same UPC (I believe Doug said this in one of his videos).
