I think the growler version was one of the best BA stouts a I’ve had from them- I also suspect the majority of people wouldn’t like it because it tasted more like an Italian aperitif than a beer. The growler version was labeled as an imperial stout with grottines cherries, cocoa nibs and Thai banana so not sure if this would be a change to the recipe or just simplified the labeled ingredients. I’m excited so long as the recipe hasn’t changed-I don’t remember the original being a milk stout however…

This years batch of Dreadnaught is much better than I remember last year’s bottles being. Hops shine through more.

If it had been this traditional last week of April this year it would be the most epic DLD yet coming off a 2 year pandemic.

I think it was ‘15 and ‘16 where there was miserable weather two years in a row when it was still held in April. If you were there, you would know what I’m talking about. Basically rained the whole fest and was cold which I expect was why they moved the fest to May. Not looking like an actual fest in May this year.

Yeah, it was definitely '15 and '16. '15 started off super wet, but did dry out completely by end of the festival, which was nice. '16 was the other way, started off not wet at all during pre-DLD shares, but then just continued intensifying throughout the day.

3 Floyds has changed. I remember the days when you had hunt for Zombie Dust or Gumballhead. If you weren't at the liquor store within an hour of delivery it was already sold.

I walked through my local Costco a few weeks back and there was an entire pallet of both Gumballhead & Zombie Dust. My local Jewel Osco grocery store never fails to have at least 6-7 6packs of each.

I mean it's dope to always be able to drive 5 mins and pick up 6 pack of Zombie Dust but I miss rolling into a get together and people would be in aww of actually seeing Zombie Dust in person... Now it's always on the shelf next to the Blue Moon. Before long you'll be able to pick up DarkLord year round at your local liquor store

DL may always be a thing of DLD, but thank god the days are over of DLD being the only source of BA offerings. I know it is only a fraction of their sales, but a part of me says they couldn’t afford to stay out of that market. I think it is necessary to help keep them relevant among a particular group of beer nerds, which ultimately (likely) drive sales of more than just the Ba stouts. (And then, I am sure, you have the multiplier effect from word of mouth spread by us geeks.)
