    Just cracked open Pilsner Urquell. I can’t think of a better day and season than a lovely spring morning to start sipping on it.

    Evening/morning @Shanex!

    I remember not being able to work out what the hell was going on in that video 40 years ago, and all these years later I still can't!

    Today's beer is Pale Ale from Woolstore Brewery in Mt.Gambier, South Australia. Unfortunately, this one appears riddled with diacetyl, as the predominant taste is butter, but the beer does claim to have been brewed with an experimental hop (Calypso, I believe). If that hop is bringing those flavours it doesn't have much of a future, so I'm sticking with my diacetyl theory. There is a little citrus note that peaks its head up from underneath the butter, but it's not enough to make up for the evident flaw.

    When I was at the brewery I noticed a touch of diacetyl in the golden ale, and I asked the brewer if it was deliberate as a touch of diacetyl is ok in that style, but he immediately replied it was honey malt, which was a reasonable answer. Not so sure now, though, and would love to ask him again with this one in my kit bag. Not to criticise or argue, mind, just to see if my palate is picking things up correctly.

    Tree House - Pizzeria Pils

    Still jet-lagged from my trip to Europe, which means early waking up and earlier-than-usual cravings for a cold one. Pairing this with some leftover pizza. I used to think that I liked Italian-style Pilsners but the more I drink them the more I perceive them as badly-made German Pils. The dry hopping takes away more than it adds to the flavor profile. This one is nice with food (as the brewers intended) but when consumed by itself it doesn't go down as easily.

    Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for starting today's thread. As for a lovely spring day, we're expecting a rain/snow mix prior to noon (that's over the next 4.5 hours). Good thing I got part of my yard mowed before the rain started a couple of days ago. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

    As the name implies, this is a dunkelweizen - malty and clovey, no banana until I just belched, very decent. Rating 3.55, rDev -4.8%.

    Having a nice Haze Y'all from Tall City Brewing.

    Went out for a birding hike with the wife last evening. She just missed this guy by a step. And she still knows how to cuss! This was a big guy. Coiled, he was the size of a large dinner plate with his head measuring maybe 2 1/2" wide. He(she) never moved or rattled. It's been rather cool here so snake was in a state of torpor.

    Site is working as normal again (seen from here). Maybe I had a double post, but I managed to delete one for as far as I can tell.

    In the meantime had this Terra Formosa from Trimtab Brewing. First beer I had from Alabama for as far as I remember. Nice!
