Best Barrel Aged Stout

I can pick IPA's and put them in some semblance of an order but not with BA Stouts. I like the coffee stouts, I like the chocolate Stouts, I like em big like BCBS at 15%, I like them when they're under 10, I like them in Cognac barrels.. For me it's impossible to rank them, only two categories, Love em or hate em, and the only ones I don't like are the fruit infused stouts, no cherries, no raspberries etc, some are already sweet enough adding fruit as a flavor booster and adding sweetness is over kill.

I haven't had them all but BCBS is my top of the pick. Damn fine beer.

That, plus DORIS and BORIS, and any Darklord. Oh,and just had Beer Geek Weasel (Calvados) that was phenominal as well.

Anyone try the fifty fifty stuff? hear it's all great.

 

3 of the 4 you mentioned aren't barrel aged.

 

Wow, thanks for keeping tabs for me. I thought the Hoppin frog beers were, but oh well. And I guess I should say any Barrel Aged Dark Lord? Would that suffice?

My top 3 are BCBS, KBS and Older Vis.

 

I really want to try this (BA Expedition). I love Expedition but find Black Note is a bit thin and doesn't have the complexity of Expedition.

I'd also like to see that other large SW Michigan brewery age more of their RIS in bourbon barrels.

This is the BA stout I buy most of each year with the exception of BCBS. EPIC BBB is highly rated, but underrated. Very very complex $11.49 beer that everyone should try, done with a number of different coffees over their 9 releases.

 

Rare blew me away, but mine is Parabola.

 

Very Mad Cow by Revolution is one of my favorites. I can drink that stuff for days.

Bell's BA Cherry Stout is amazing as well.

 

Yeah that list is in no particular order. Not even sure if I could put them in order if I tried.

Speaking of RareR DOS I'll be drinking some in a few days!

 

Porabola and bourbon county is the common theme in most postings, What is the best year of each,
I personally like 10 porabola and 09 bourbon county stout.

 

For me, I think KBS is tops. But, I would also throw in GL BA Blackout Stout as a top contender. I would also add Abyss to the list as well.
