Yeah loved Cannonball Creek last year...definitely going back...missed New Terrain...sounds like one we should try to hit this time..relatively close to Golden it seems.

It is in Golden, just on the other side of North Table Mountain. They’ve got good beer and a big outdoor space with great views. The beers are not on par with Cannonball’s, but it’s a good experience as long as it’s not packed. Beer lines can get way too long on really crowded weekend days.
And you can go for a hike on N. Table Mtn right from the brewery.

Bierstadt announced that they recently collaborated on a "Munich Style Export Lager" with Jack's Abbey. That would be a beer akin to Augustiner Edelstoff, Andechs Spezial Hell, Löwenbräu Urtyp, Ayinger Jahrhundert, etc. Their previous exports (especially Noble Stuff) have been amazing, so I'm pumped. Maybe it'll see distro in JA's 1/2L bottles? I'm always happy when other areas get to try their beers.

I was once excited for Wild Provisions with the thought it was going to be what Cohesion is now. However, WP, like other 4 Noses entities, quickly became a 4N satellite location.

Do they still serve the side-pull Czech lagers? I haven't been by in a while (Boulder = Utah to me) but have been happy to see their stuff on at Cohesion. I prefer WP's pale lager but Cohesion's darker ones.

I'm not sure about Wild Provisions side-pull situation. I like Cohesion a lot, but my only gripe with them is that all of their beers need more hop bitterness, IMO. I believe they only use whole cone hops. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I agree with you. That's my gripe, too. I know a lot of their beers are trying to mimic the lower ABV lagers that aren't as potent as Urquell and such, but all of them lack the hop bitterness I'm used to. Even the 12º, which is designed to be a Pils. Maybe 5-10 more IBU's and it would be perfect, though. I feel like WP's pale lager is on the other end of the spectrum. It's a hair hoppier than real Czech beers, but it suits my tastes more. I can handle saaz all day when something is decocted and has a lot of body. All that said, I still appreciate that we have both. Plus, Cohesion is easy for me to get to, it has a boatload of parking, and they have a strong food truck schedule, too. I'd probably live at Bierstadt, Hogshead, or even WP if they were more convenient, but (at least for me) all of them are a pain in the ass to go to.

Cohesion definitely has one of the better parking situations in the big city imo.

    Loved their offerings all around.

Parking and food trucks are X factors that definitely get me to visit some places vs. others. With a few exceptions, most places are putting out a pretty solid product these days. I'd rather have a 7/10 beer with easy parking and good food on-site over a 9/10 with no food and dicey parallel/metered parking only...8 blocks away.

Infernal Tomb maibock from TRVE is good shit. New favorite local for sure.

Is Cohesion still requiring proof of vaccination to get in? I have enjoyed their collaboration with new image, but they can fuck off if they want personal medical information to let me in.

I've never been asked for proof of vaccination. That must've been a temporary thing.

We were just at both Cohesion and Wild Provisions and thought both had very nice Czech beers. Might give a slight edge to the ones at Wild Provisions but splitting hairs. Two great recommendations from this thread. I'll post a visit recap within a week but we hit a shitload of a great breweries in Golden, Denver, Idaho Springs and Boulder area...Bierstadt still my favorite brewery but we hit some other solid ones as well.

Loved the parking at Cohesion.....Maybe it was just the day but Prost was not an easy place to find parking.

I’d venture to guess that the fact that it is a ‘day’ will definitely result in challenging parking

Been a while since I've been to the original Prost location, but it used to just be a gravel lot with room for a dozen'ish cars. You can park on the street, but good luck with that. You'll be competing with people going to a bunch of other businesses and everyone living in the apartments/condos over there, too. On the plus side, they have 3 locations (and the light rail isn't too far), so there are other options. Quite frankly, if you're in that area you'd be better off at Bierstadt anyway. Prost probably wins for atmosphere, but Bierstadt is better for everything else.

Agree entirely and I'd also take the atmosphere at Bierstadt...just wanted to give them a try as well since we were relatively close.

In my opinion, Bierstadt's beers are better, but Prost's atmosphere is superior. If I'm honest, while I love drinking Bierstadt on draft, I don't like drinking at the brewery. I've never understood the concept of the place if there is one. There's a frat-like environment downstairs, upstairs is dull and industrial, the service leaves me cold, the food is okay but expensive, and the frequent wrestling and BMX events are just out of left field. I believe it recently won best tap house in Denver, so I guess I'm in the minority.

Prost is a 10-minute walk for me, so it's my go-to biergarten. Is it better than Bierstadt beer? No. But they have a better variety of options, the beers are good, and the vibe is jovial.

I hate the ordering system at Bierstadt. It would be a pain in the ass if I went there more often. I've learned to put in for my next beer when the first one arrives otherwise I sit empty for ten plus minutes. I like how Wibby does it. They offer that style of ordering. They also offer table service or you can order at the bar...your call. I know the slow pour pils take time but it seems like if you order a helles it gets backed up behind that. At a normal place while they are working on the pils, they'd slide you a helles if you came up to the bar. There's my old guy rant for the day.

I don't mind the atmosphere upstairs though at Bierstadt...not great but ok...Prost was packed and cramped when we were there and it was like 100 degrees so maybe I didn't come away with a true impression of the atmosphere there.
