The DMS in Beer for Hell was just too much for me in a Heller Bock. I'm having my last can this afternoon and will make a final opinion.

OTOH -- I'm on my third 4-pack of More's Bartlett Maibock and the stuff is hitting all the points.

Yep. Pretty much the same impression with a vegetal character that is off for a good, clean lager.

It's not at all undrinkable, but with other Maibocks available, it's not a go-to for me.

Interesting, I hadn’t noticed that (or maybe I’m just insensitive to DMS). I’ll definitely pay closer attention with my remaining can of it.

I haven’t seen the More Maibock anywhere near me but I’m certainly intrigued. It seems like there was a greater variety being distributed last year, but I’ve barely encountered any recently.

I had a New Zealand Pilsner (NZ Hops) from Bother Chimp Brewery in N Aurora. It was really good and was one of the standouts among the Elmhurst Brewery Mayfest taps.

Wonder how often people show up at the wrong brewery when making plans with friends by mistaking Brother Chimp with Brothership…

Perhaps a forthcoming collaboration beer, Chimpionship Brothers?

A little late to the Off Color Ten Crowns. Missed it, until I stumbled on the last 4-pack at an Illinois Woodman’s. Wow, it’s good. I see where some say it’s roasty, but I haven’t had enough true-to-style Czech Dark Lager to have an opinion about whether that’s too roasty. Either way, the roast was generally balanced overall to me, super smooth, nice body and carb. Sure do love Off Color.

Also got Beer for Hell. I didn’t catch any off flavors, either, but could just be me. I liked it’s simplicity. It would go perfect with spring if we lived somewhere that actually ever had a proper spring.

If you can find More's Bartlett Maibock, try it side-by with the Off Color. Might be revealing.

Posted elsewhere, but PSA - please go try that Helles Rauch from Roaring Table. Do it alone, unhurried, and with the shades drawn. :flushed::flushed::flushed::flushed::flushed::flushed::flushed::flushed::flushed::flushed::heavymetal::heart_eyes::kissing_heart::kissing_heart:

Edit: lol those emojis were unintentional but I’ll keep them.

And yet, I'm still the only full review.

I'm betting the head on this beer is much better on draft than from the can, so my review would probably gain points in situ.

Still well worth tasting for any German lager fan, no matter the format.

we all know I can’t figure out how to post a review on this site.

Also, I don’t believe in numerical reviews. I want my future self to be as unshackled as possible from snapshot follies of my past selves.

Well, I like to post and read impressions of the beer, so I don't always jump to conclusions of the numbers.

Just wanted to mention this was a collab between RT and Riverlands - props to both breweries on a killer beer

Beer Run today and I found some Crystal Lake Brewing Maibock. Had actually forgotten they brewed this.

Not too bad at all. Not quite the More Maibock, but I like it better than Off Color's.

No RT Vienna at the Gurnee Binny's... FWIW.

This new or soon-to-drop kellerbier from Lakefront showed up in an insta story yesterday (so probably not visible anymore?). Looked it up on their site. Sounds promising. I managed to grab the last two My Turn offerings, which I thought were pretty solid (not lagers, tho).
