Did anyone go to this event last year? I'm flying up for SFBW 2/8 - 2/11 and was looking at this event until I saw the price. With the fee, it's basically 70 bucks, which sounds expensive as all hell considering they don't provide food and it's only a four hour event. Is it actually worth it?

By comparison, the SDBW Brewer's Guild VIP ticket was $35 and included 10 tickets for some really good and rare beer, and a ton of free (and delicious) food.

I went. Leaning toward not this year.

It sucked! Don't go! Bathrooms were a nightmare - 45 minute wait times to take a piss. And no exit/re-entry, so you couldn't go somewhere else to pee. Your money is better spent at one of the many other events in the area.

This time about a billion. Whoever chose the location last year deserves to be public flogged for making that miserably terrible decision. There are 3 things that you need to take care of at a beer event like this:

    1) Beer
    2) Water
    3) Bathrooms

Fucking up any of those 3 means that you are irredeemably bad at setting up beer events. They fucked up bathrooms, so they are irredeemably bad about setting up beer events, and as such I will not ever be attending another one they put on.

There was a good secret bathroom, though. Most people didn't know where it was.

Despite what the hobos outside may have said, 7th Street doesn't count as a "secret bathroom". :astonished:

I've already bought my ticket, sucks to hear that it was a cluster fuck of sorts. Hopefully the restroom issues will be resolved.

It was fun other than the long bathroom lines, but I think I'm saving my money to go to a few other events this year.

The one I'm talking about was on the second floor, just past where North Coast was set up. Honestly, the super-loud bands were by far the worst part.

One of my co-workers went last year and said it was pretty fun. He also didn't pay for his ticket, so take that with a grain of salt.

Ahhhhh... the music sucked! You could not hear a damn thing on that end of the event it was so loud.

The other events are better. Try the Double IPA Fest at The Bistro in Hayward. It's close to BART...Hayward is about 30 miles from SF.

Consider me perhaps overly-trusting in the organizers' ability to learn from last year's mistakes, but I bought a ticket for this year's go-around - lot of friends bought in, and I figured I could just buy some Depends in advance if needed. :grinning:

I went to the one two years ago when it was still held at the Yerba Buena Gardens but skipped last year. Prefer the smaller more focused events during SF Beer Week. Hopefully next year, I won't be sick during SF Beer Week as well!

The Yerba Buena event was great with early entry. Once the general admission opened up, the place became ridiculously crowded. Luckily by then I had tried just about everything in the room.
