Yeah this is wild. Tree House is known for their famous melon flavor. It's so famous that there's even a beaten-to-death meme about it on these boards. Suddenly people don't like Tree House's claim to fame? Feels like I'm taking crazy pills.

Anyone here ever taste bubblegum in the yeast at Tree House?

I know it's a joke, but I can honestly say I've never tasted bubblegum in a TH beer

This has been sort of not well explained over time. It’s not just any bubblegum people refer to. If it tasted like big league chew I’d probably get sick.

if you ever had the old fruit stripe gum there is a very specific flavor you can get from the TH beers that is like the gum. I used to really get it from Green, but seem to notice it more from Julius these days. It’s just a unique flavor you get from some of the trillium beers. Try the gum sometime if you can find. It really is pretty close.

Similarly Trillium has a very specific yeast flavor as well that I can pick out pretty easily from others. But since it isn’t a food flavor it’s hard to explain. If anything it’s like a sharp flavor over the hops. Which at times I really enjoy. Haters will always just say hop burn. But there is definitely a flavor there as well.

I definitely taste the unique flavor of TH IPAs. It's been a long time since I've had fruit stripe gum, so I'll have to try it again. TH beers don't conjure up old memories of it in my subconcious

It's been a long time. The only fruit-stripe gum I can recall, I think, was a....zebra striped gum? But different stripes for different flavors?

Is that right, or am I just completing misremembering altogether?

Nope you are correct. I remember around 5 flavors.

Also it could be on me as many compared it to juicy fruit. I’ll have to double check which it is haha or potentially both!

They may be in the same parent company

And all 5 flavors would be gone by the time you finished putting the piece in your mouth.

Thats Nate’s whole thing. His whole mission was to rectify the trauma we all experienced from instant flavor loss to gum in the 80’s and 90’s.

Just noticed trail citra! I will definitely be grabbing a 6 pack. While I could drink standard trail all day, that sounds tasty.

Just had it on tap, I thought the citra played well with the trail malt. A clean pils with a bit of citra. Tasty.

I think it’d be like every other good maple stout we’ve had 100 times now everywhere

I am looking forward to this month, though.

Yeah it certainly wouldn't be all that different I'm sure but I'd be excited. And it wouldn't have lactose, which is a rarity in the maple stout world.

    Both excellent points.

I wonder on the mouthfeel all these years later. We’ve been inundated with massively chewy stouts. GM was only about 8.4 so I’m curious if it’s gonna be as amazing as I remember.
