Looks like Real McCoy in Delmar (& Ballston Spa) is opening a third location in Albany. Couldn't tell where based on the video shown but likely the Warehouse District. It would make sense, be near Fort Orange and Druthers, but I am a little surprised that they think they need a third spot.

Solid beer and good vibes but they're not one of the more talked-about breweries around here.

Still, interested to see what the new spot looks like.

-- Got Sad Boys Brewing in the Larkinville area of Buffalo (near Belt Line and Flying Bison), working on a September opening. One of their flagships is gonna be a Loganberry IPA which is a cool idea.

-- Springs Brewery in the works for East Hampton, probably a summer 2023 opening. Brewing at Ubergeek for now.

-- River Trail Beer Works on Saranac Lake shooting for a Fall opening.

-- Briar Brothers opening in Buffalo June 25. Their spot is at the old silos on the waterfront so that's gonna be cool as hell and a great usage for what's long been an eyesore.

*Slight amendment, Briar Brothers isn't IN Silo City, but in a different abandoned factory site in the First Ward just a few blocks away.

Excited about River Trail, Saranac Lake is overdue for a brewery/brewpub and this will be owned/operated by the same folks from Lake Placid Pub & Brewery, Big Slide in LP. There is also a small, new-ish brewery in Ray Brook across from Tail O' The Pup BBQ that had some nice offerings when we visited in February. Nice little string of breweries to hit between SL and LP now.

Went to Tin Barn FLX the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Initial impression, homerun! Adirondack chairs all along the front providing a spectacular view of Seneca Lake. Side patio with multiple umbrella covered tables. Large indoor area. Much better then the Chester location, imo. Just a better vibe overall. And perhaps the best thing of all...a nice 5% lager. One of my main critiques of Tin Barn has been a lack of a good lower abv option. Problem solved...now they need to make more. Highly recommend anyone checking this place out. Cheers!

Back to the Finger Lakes we go, Relative Risk Brewing opening on the West Side of Seneca in August. Gonna be sandwiched in between Ardennes/Big Alice and Seneca Stag, which are each like six miles away in opposite directions.

They do jack and shit w/ social media so IDK what else to report but their address on Google maps was just a field back in 2007 so this place is probably a new build.

Wild what's happened already on that side of the lake the last couple years. 18 months ago it was just Climbing Bines, and now you've got Tin Barn FLX, Seneca Stag, Ardennes, Big Alice and Relative Risk soon to come. I imagine they won't be the last, either.

Publication Brew Works is set to open in Pennsburg, PA on June 17th. In a cool old building in "downtown" Pennsburg that was previously a newspaper's shop. Our friends live a block away, so I will definitely be visiting once they are open and can report back. Their opening taplist is fairly varied.

They also have some cool before and after pictures on their website under the "Our Story" tab.

I used this post as my roadmap for a trip around Seneca yesterday. My main takeaway is that if I'm leaving Ithaca to hit breweries, I'd rather go a little further and be closer to beer heaven at Other Half, Mortalis, Fifth Frame or Prison City. My non-nerdy friends had no issues with the beer, and I have to admit that the view from Tin Barn FLX is absolutely perfect on a clear day and that the setting at Ardennes is bucolic (which I just looked up to make sure I used correctly).

tl;dr I'm still a fusspot about the tourist Finger Lakes brew scene, which to me doesn't seem to be trying hard enough to make beer that will draw repeat customers.

A follow up on the above post - looks like Souderton Borough has agreed to a letter of intent for leasing of the building, but Radiant Beer Project is changing their name to Brass Collar Brewing

Lease agreement in the works for taproom at former Souderton train station freight building (thereporteronline.com)

I honestly thought they abandoned the project by this point but looks like Engine 14 Brewing in Naples opened. Eight beers on tap, looks like a focus on traditional styles (bock, non-adjunct stout, pils, cream ale, etc) so that's cool.

Apparently there are two breweries that plan to open in Perkasie, PA this Summer. Van Lieus Brewing and Mystic Ways Brewing

Based on some googling, looks like Van Lieus is a father and son team that just has homebrewing experience:
    https://whatnowphilly.com/van-lieus-brewing-company-to-open-perkasie-microbrewery-and-taproom/

And looks like the brewer of Mystic Ways has some commercial experience at Red Lion Inn in Quakertown. But honestly until I read this article, I didn't even know that McCooles/Red Lion brewed their own beer.

Lasting Joy Brewery opened over this past weekend in Tivoli, NY. I'll have to check it out next time I'm up by Suarez.

Hyde Park Brewing shut its doors after 27 years.

Checked out Lasting Joy over the weekend, what a facility. Truly a unique and stunning taproom with an incredibly relaxed vibe. Outdoor seating all over the place. Beers were very solid, the NEIPA especially had a grassy, slightly bitter vibe I really love. Only five (of their own) beers on tap right now but they'll have more soon I'm sure.

Also stopped over at Vosburgh afterword, really like what they're doing. Super enjoyable beers and it seems preposterous that Sloop never made ANY use of the outdoor area when they had that taproom because Vosburgh makes the absolute most of it.

I never put 2+2 together that the Vosburgh spot is the original Sloop farm. I passed right by it a couple weeks ago when I was in the area and thought it looked super nice, but it'd obviously been years since I went to the original Sloop, so it didn't really ring a bell. Looking forward to checking it out next time I'm up there since I didn't have time to do so then.

    Got some 518 action:

    1) Dancing Grain Farm Brewery is being built in Gansevoort (just North of Saratoga), whole new build, looking at a July opening right now.

    2) Soulcraft Farm Brewing is in the works in Cambridge. No word on when.

    3) Work still in progress with Speckled Pig in Ballston Spa, would imagine a summer opening.

    4) Kiiiiind of a non-tidbit but worth mentioning. There's a place in Albany's Warehouse District, right next to the Biergarten, used to be a restaurant but never reopened after covid. Somebody new bought it and specifically wants a brewery to go in there. It's a really cool and unique space, and it would do stupid business as a brewery. Fidens has mentioned needing more space before they can reopen a taproom so...

Unrelated, got some more info on Grow Brewing, which some of you may have seen pop up locally. They're kind of 'based' out of Geneva but the plan as it stands is to do three releases a month and specifically in stores they've worked with and kind of line up with their vision. The brewer is from War Horse (and formerly Good Nature) and is brewing on the War Horse system. Probably won't ever be a taproom.

So apparently 'Northern Catskills' is gonna be Scoharie. No timetable for a taproom or anything but it'll be great to have them right near Wayward Lane.
