Never saw that. Would have bought it if I had, ha.

 

That’s a foolish assessment. If I I go to the beach I’m not worried my towel will be laying in that many grains of sand. I’m not worried I will spend that amount of seconds in the shower. The issue is when a product is openly marketed with that number as the gimmick, if you will. For me personally, it just doesn’t click. Just like someone may not want to buy a beer with a serial killer on the front. Cheers.

 

Duvel doesn't normally have super strong phenolics/esters, so maybe it'll be good? Saw it at the Davidson's off County Line Rd. They still have the triple hop Citra one, too.

Obviously, this applies only to beers sold in the U.S. of A. Countries in which Devil Worship is more common may have other labeling regulations.

 

What about this beer? It's not marketed blatantly as having an ABV of 6.66%, but it does.

This is how I've felt about every iteration of Duvel compared to the original.

I have amazing memories of trains across Europe and Duvel was a staple. Coming up from Geneva to the beautiful small town of Gex, overlooking Geneva, we stayed in the Belle Vue Hotel, near the small train station. We met a French nuclear scientist , his gorgeous Brazilian wife and her sister and he treated us to dinner that began with Duvel, progressed into wonderful older Burgundies, and ended with raucous laughter and vintage port. That was one Helluva night, one that I'll always remember. I had a Duvel on the train the next day as we wound our way towards Paris to meet my best friend under The Eiffel Tower at noon on the 4th of July 1970. Not to mention the roots of the story and a young writer from San Francisco that years later wrote Fear of Flying.

 

You do realize that 666 is just a number that somehow has become a symbol of the “devil”. Till proof comes to light the devil is just a made up thing, your serial killer comparison is an actual real thing. Maybe there is a devil, maybe they look nothing like what people portray them as. When folks look in the mirror they might see the devil.If there was a 777 beer how would you feel?

OK, since it has been discussed around the edges, I just want to point out that it is not so vague as "somehow".

It is a direct quote from biblical prophecy; Rev. 13:18 to be precise. (And, while on the topic, I'll point out that it is the number of a man referred to in this prophecy as "the beast", not of Satan/the devil directly.)

According to lead vocalist, THEE Bruce Dickinson, the band originally asked Vincent Price to read the intro, but decided to hire Clayton after Price refused to do it for anything less than £25,000.

It's the tale of a prisoner about to be hanged, featuring some of Harris' most philosophical lyrics. "Several band-members have since stated that it is one of their favourite tracks, with Bruce Dickinson describing it as "fantastic" and that performing it live is like "narrating a movie to the audience.

 

The serial killer comparison was referenced because were talking about how things make people feel here. Some things bother you that might not bother me and vice versa. That’s okay. I felt empowered to state what I stated initially, just as you should if you feel strongly about something. Cheers.

 

....Duvel has had its name meaning "devil" for almost one hundred years, (still can't figure out exactly when its name was changed from Victory Ale to Duvel) and you guys are just now getting offended?

 

I strongly doubt that Duvel's fanbase is offended, if I'm being honest.
