Thanks. I couldn't get the calendar to load when I went to the website earlier. This is a more comprehensive list of events.

Well, I guess that I picked a good weekend (June 18/19th) to hit Hair of the Dog one last time. We were going to arrive in Portland early afternoon on June 18th and go straight to Hair of the Dog...may have to finish the day at the Breakside Block Party. Looking at the tap list and beer selection at Belmont Station, we may have to swing by there on Sunday.

My goodness, you're all assholes for keeping this beer selection from us not Portlandiars... hanging out at John's Marketplace, enjoying a RR Supplication (been a good 7 years since I had this beer). So many beers I have never seen on the racks here. Wild ales and RIS from Japan, single vat Boon Gueuze, Koji fermented beers from Italy. And Jolly Pumpkin, Fantom, and Anchorage Beer... haven't seen these in Eugene in years. And boxed Lambic!

Thanks to this thread we've booked a spot in Ladd's Addition to experience the beer and food scene in the surrounding area while we are in town exploring greater PDX with our 7 year old. Here's what we have so far:

    Beer walking distance
    Chuckanut
    Baerlic
    Beermongers (no kids)
    Apex (no kids; pinball)
Great Notion (new division st spot)

    Beer driving
Horse Brass (fish and chips; cask ale?)
    Upright (cask ale)
    Wayfinder (good food)

    Beer to go
    New Seasons
    John's SE Powell
    Beermongers

    Food walking
    Scottie's Pizza
    Fifty Licks
    Lardo
    Ranch Pizza (Baerlic)
    Lawless BBQ
    Bollywood Theater
    Fried egg I'm in love
    Olympia Provisions
    Coava Coffee

    Food driving
    Canard
    Apizza Scholls
    Kens

    Non beer/food
    OMSI
    Mt Tabor Park
    Forest Park
    Piccolo Park
    Washington Park
    Laurelhurst Park
    Powell's Books

We plan to have one nice dinner for our anniversary where our son will join us and we are thinking about Canard but not sure how the restaurant will feel about bringing along a 7 year old that but we are thinking it'll be fine.

Thanks for all the great advice in this thread and please let us know if we are missing anything!

Tempted to advise against Laurelhurst Park.

Pack a (Lardo?)picnic to Washington Park. Between the kids playground there and the rose garden, you could spend a fun morning there.

What are you looking for in Forest Park? You could tack on the south end of the park when you're in Washington Park. The section by the Audubon Society is nice, and you can hike up to Pittock Mansion for views. My favorite part, though, I'd the north end of the park at the Newberry Rd trailhead where there's some solitude, but I'm not sure if recommend it as a destination for an out of towner.

If you go to Forest Park, do not leave anything in the car. That section sees a fair number of smashed windows.

I'd add Eem to your food list and Steeplejack to your beer list. The church that Steeplejack is in is absolutely amazing, and the Beverly Cleary statue garden is nearby in a really nice park for the kid. Belmont Station is a great bottle shop, too.

Appreciate all the feedback and suggestions! I probably saw Laurelhurst Park was relatively close to where we are staying and had a playground but we have plenty else to do so we will scratch it.

Love the Lardo picnic idea at Washington Park and that's now top of the list.

As for Forest Park, we are looking for trails and wilderness but may skip it since we are headed to Rainier after we leave PDX and managed to snag a room at Paradise Inn where we plan on hitting Skyline Loop trail at sunrise.

As you probably know by now, I'm always hesitant to delete someone's post, unless it's an obvious infraction of BA rules and protocols. In this case, I think the author was trying to be excessively aggressive in order to make a humorous point. I thought it was his way of grumbling, in a curmudgeon like way, about all the incredible beers that we see in PDX on a regular basis, but never see the light of day in Eugene.

While I thought the humor a bit heavy handed, I didn't think the post warranted deletion (even though I didn't particularly like being collectively referred to as assholes).

That being said, I'll go ahead and refer this to @Todd to get his input.

Solid itinerary. I would agree that Laurelhurst Park is going through a rough patch and is probably not worth the trip. Also, there's nothing at New Seasons that you won't find at Beermongers or John's. If anything, hit up Belmont Station for to go beer. It's on the way to Mt. Tabor and has beer on tap, as well as one on cask.

    Have fun!

Definitely prioritize Washington Park, Forest Park and/or Mt. Tabor Park over Laurelhurst Park.

Laurelhurst is a lovely park if you're near the neighborhood but not worth the trip from Ladd's.

Washington Park is the must go. The Rose Garden was in great shape last week. Some roses were starting to shed their petals and not sure the effect of last weekend's heat wave but it's definitely a must see for anyone. There are more types of roses than you would ever imagine. Plus WP playground is great.

Only challenge might be parking as it gets busy.

Do we need a curmudgeon-off? Pretty sure I can win with my "C" game.

Don't wanna hurt anyone. Unless I should.

If anyone is planning on visiting Portland this month, there are three beer fests of note. Is anyone else planning to attend these?

This weekend: Portland Craft Beer Fest

Sat 16: Fuji to Hood (Ramen/Sushi and beer fest)

Last weekend of the month: Oregon Brewers Fest

They all sound pretty fun, I think I'm voting with my wallet over my liver this month and going to check them all out!
