I’m about to head over to the Cellar if anyone wants to split a Billionaire’s Chocolate with me. PM me.

Question for the Side Project cognoscenti: what is considered the top *non fruited* wild / saison beer they make somewhat regularly?

the term “somewhat regularly” is pretty broad in SP terms but would have to be like Fuzzy or FdF (both have 4 blends to their brand). Fuzzy seems to be on the every other year rotation and the fruited fermiers are anyone’s guess. i feel like the only one that gets made annually is AdF, which is damn good.

then you have your one-off and collabs with fruit that end up great (see PN8 and Coexpressionalism Framboise)

...and is there considered a "white whale" non-fruited Side Project wild / saison?

Thanks for answering, by the way!!

I think it depends what you consider regularly. Oude Fermier has been made multiple times but is not an annual release. It's probably the best saison in their lineup. Tete is pretty regular and is probably the best of the annual or near annual releases. Oude Du Ble is fantastic as well but not quite as highly regarded as Tete.

Oude Fermier (particularly b1 & b2) and OG Tete (blend #1) i’d say

Oude La Ruche (any batch) is one of my personal favorites. Anyone have some that they no longer want?:grimacing:

good call. i feel like blends 2 & 3 were easier to get because of the small format.

Oude du Ble is one of the few SP beers with which I've been able to do a 3 or 4-year vertical, and none of them disappointed. They're not held in a high regard when trading for them, and I'll always look to add one as an ISO plus.

Similarly, I feel Tete '19 was really underrated for some reason, but I love that beer. It's so delicate for a complex saison, and it's easy to trade for since it was included in a BBT package and not waxed.

100% agree on Tete v19. very much overlooked.

To add to this: I opened a Bubble wrap on Friday. Used a wine stopper.

It was better last night than the first night, but tonight it tastes weird.

Oude Ferm likely has the most cache along with OG versions of Oude la Ruche, Tete and Pinot Ferm. Don't sleep on CdC2, CdC6, , CdC 7, PN13, or Le Feu Vert tho.

CDC 6 was incredible. If I opened a bottle of Oude Fermier and that's what came out I wouldn't have been disappointed.

Would have thought there'd have been more votes for Grisette on this, honestly. That, SDB and SDF are pretty fine, in regards to regular non-fruited releases. Everything else seems to come out very sparingly.

If we're talking white labels my vote goes to Marietta.

Excluding single farm, saisonnier and coeur du cuvee I think I’m at:
    SdF > BdP > SdB > Grisette > Marietta

But I also feel like I’m forgetting something

Pinot sdf for me takes the cake one regular and stellar. Regular sdf too is great it just doesn’t come around often

I’m also a fan of the merci blends. Vintage blends and Blended blends (lol) are good too and relatively easy to trade for. I scored that last vintage a perfect score, I thought it was incredible

As far as whaleish id say Ph1 is heading that way and excellent

I really liked 35 years that I had on my 35th bday too, not sure if that one is tough to get at this point

ohh and sunsets, that guys was fantastic! One off collab with Sara, might be whaleish too
