Mind blown. I thought it was going to be too much, but if it wasn’t for splitting it, I would have gladly drank the whole thing. And collect every drop with a spatula. So much brownies!

Ok after two days of grilling and pool parties and lighter beers in solo cups, Im back in here with another imperial stout. This is New Image Underworld Barista, part of a trade a few months back. Im glad to have a big beer after drinking lagers and kolsch most of the past two days. Which has been great, but I love some robust dark brew too!

    onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can , date stamped 21/11/24, which I can guess is Nov 24, 2021. No other dates makes sense.
Can barely make out the 17.3% on the date stamp also.
Beer pours a very dark black coffee color with no light passing through at all. About 1 cm of tan rocky foam rises in the glass, but fades to the thinnest of edge layers quickly after the pour. Some wispy lattice, but mostly sticky legs like a fine merlot on the glass when I swirl.
Aroma is chocolate fudge mixing with a sweetened coffee and mild vanilla. I also get a bit of liquor soaked dark fruit and booze, but sweet, not spicy or fusol. A bit of caramel in for good measure on a hops absent nose.
First sip reveals a very smooth textured medium to thick body beer with very fine and spacious carbonation. Physical traits are easy drinking on this big beer to be honest. Dangerous brew!
Flavor is fudge brownie, sweetened coffee and some high cacao chocolate with a bit of roasted malt and caramel mixing. Maybe hints of vanilla and dark fruit here, but mostly fudge. I dont get any boozy heat and hops are also absent.
This is a sweeter beer and driven by fudge and dark chocolate, but also dangerously drinkable with not a lot of booziness.
Very glad to have tried this one and would pick up another can if I saw em!

    4.3 in the BA DB

Silhouette from 2nd Shift was the 3rd stout I've had from them and this was just too much "addedjunque".
I'm just guessing, but I bet the "base" beer was far superior, but I'm just crabby old man who likes to bitch about junque in my beer.

Online info indicates the abv. for this bad boy is a measley 12.7%. For Avery, that's purt near sessionable.

Probably my favorite from Avery so far. Maybe its the price , but ill take this over tweek .
Imperialis, out of proper glassware for you "proper vessel n00bz"
Poured at fridge temp into my SBG glass, it's a cola-esque light/deep brown and settles into dark black..like every good stout.
Smell and taste is delicious cacao, coffee, perfect barrel to base taste ratio, vanilla, oak, dark fruit and dark malts. All this comes together very well and i hope they do more of these 20 dollar 4 packs.
I love this beer . I'll keep buying this over and over.
This is a single i got for 5 dollars, still have 2 from the 4 pack i purchased last week.

Didn't feel the neeed to put it cuz you can see it on the label in the photo.
This is averys best beerso far IMO based on price, abv, flavor, 4 pack format.
IMO no discernible difference between 6 or 12 months of aging in a barrel from beers I've had .
I'll say it again, this blows the disappointment of Alemiths 2022 BBA Speedway out the water and only half the price.

    8ONE8 Brewing - Valhalla
Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. 12.9%
This in one of my all time local favorites [IMG]
16oz can at fridge temp .
Pours deep brown with reddish hue and settles into Midnight Black with very little head.
Smell is a mouth watering blend of hefty barrel, cocoa, dark chocolate, plum and dark malts. The taste follows with a wonderful dance of aforementioned smells. The barrel presence is so well executed it's hard to believe this is sitting on shelves and still on tap out here.
This is an expert level barrel aged stout from this great little brewery in Canoga Park .
I had this on tap earlier this year ( fell in love and took a can home to see if it was just as good in canned form) as well as a blend of this beer and their BA Baltic Porter and demanded they can it; they wouldn't sell me a crowler of it, but its one i think of all the time.
This one is a god damned winner . 4.75/5

Doesn't seem to be available on the east coast, sadly. But if it's even in the same breath as Tweak or Uncle Jacob's at 1/3rd the price it sounds like a dream.

It should hit shelves out there if you get Avery stuff like UJS or Tweak . 1/3rd the price and not as heavy an ABV, although over 11%, and the 4 pack format make it BETTER than the ones mentioned IMHO. I only bought tweak once and have yet to try UJS cuz the price out here ( $13-15) is offputting as hell to buy tweak again or try UJS

Def worth seeking out if you're a fan of Avery ,maybe ultimately trading a medium flat rate box for two 4-packs if it's worth your time.

This is actually really good, bear with me. Rest peanut butter whiskey on coffee grounds in the fridge for a few days.

The result isn't pretty, but it is damn tasty. The coffee is intense and works well with the peanutty booze.

    It's fine as is, but...

Add five ounces of quality imperial stout and it's absolutely next level. I always thought willitized, great as it is, needed more coffee and this is a helluva good way to get it done. This is like having an adult Reese's peanut butter cup with a good cup of joe.

I was reluctant to try it, it sounds gimmicky as hell, but my wife and I both love it. Mixed with hot chocolate on a cold wintery Michigan night...hope you find some!

Interesting thought, but I don't think I would ever mess with Willettized. It's pretty damn perfect as it is.
