I have seen and passed on Bigfoot, Hoptimum and Narwhal this year. I just don't enjoy those big brews anymore.

I would be all over a redo of SN Kōlsch, Glissade, and Ruthless Rye, just to name a few. I'm setting myself up for disappointment. I know.

Wouldn’t hate it if Tumbler was the replacement. Marzen/fest are my favorite style but haven’t been happy with SNs in quite some time. But I do love Tumbler

You mean Summer Break, session hazy IPA?

Not sure how it's selling, but time will tell.

Sucks to hear the news, but there are too many good Octoberfests from other breweries to get too up in arms about it. Sierra Nevada is a brewery I almost never buy from nowadays. As they have whittled down their lineup I have lost interest in buying the few remaining beers I like from them. They have a lot of beers I liked in the past but it's obvious most or all of them are gone and not coming back. Or if they do come back it will be brewery only like the porter or Ruthless Rye and I am not going to pay the exorbitant costs to get them.

Shhhh. Trying to get them to bring back the Festbiers. :zipper_mouth:

Three year old product on the shelf is mildly insane though. One thing about those Oktoberfest collabs is I always knew if was buying the right year’s stock. It’s sometimes hard to tell with retailers these days — and I don’t always have my decoder ring with me for the imports.

Sad to hear all around. Sierra Nevada was a big part of my beer life in the early days. I can handle the demise of Oktoberfest as I didn't consider it a must have, but the potential of losing Celebration and/or Bigfoot is devastating. It's thankfully still just speculation at this point.

This would SUCK. I love festbiers and always look forward to SN's different takes on the style each Fall. I certainly miss the pre-Covid glory days of them partnering with different German breweries. The Weihenstephan collab was easily my favorite!

Except they stopped doing that in 2020 and went with a standard house recipe.

Could be why sales were down and they're opting not to brew enough for wide distribution this year.

Could you clarify what you mean by this? They stopped doing the collabs two years ago, but the two beers they released on their own were still completely different from each other.

Part of the spread of observed prices is retail pricing decision making. Another issue might be distributor wholesale price variations. The brewery might charge various prices, possibly due to volume purchases or delivery costs. Finally, the inflationary environment leaves all businesses, especially retailers, with more latitude to raise prices (consumers know the current price could be higher than last week's, and most won't check several outlets).

This is what I was saying.

As far as 20 & 21 being completely different, that's a matter of palates. I wasn't terribly impressed with either.

Oh the post you quoted didn't say anything about collabs specifically but just different takes on the style each year, which was still the case for the two solo releases after 2020. Their recipes were completely different from each other.

Yeah, I agree with you on freshness getting tougher. I've been waiting patiently to get the new hoppy sampler as I thought I never had a cold IPA. Finally found a 12 pack this weekend and it was 3 mths old, bottled mid to late March.

Not here to argue with you or the recipes, they still didn't taste terribly different to me -- and at least not as different as the collabs.

Come to think of it, I probably still have a couple bottles of each... but probably not the best comparison tasting at this point.

I apologize in advance for unnecessary ramblings attributable to my consumption of a 2020 and 2022 Bigfoot earlier today!

Agree with the sentiment hat Jeffrey White is out to maximize profits via marketing and selling hazy Ipas to the younger generation that grew up on juice boxes during breaks from their sporting related activities as youths.
SNBC has removed popular SKUs such as Summerfest, Oktoberfest, etc. from the traditional 3-tier distribution system to that where SNBC can directly ship their wares for pumped up prices via the direct ship method and sales at their Gift Shops. And interestingly enough, i had a bottle of SNBC Stout at my local Playhouse but i could not find any Stout
Although my Google email has removed the SNBC Porter offer back to the early spring, an offer for a certain quantity of this was made at craft beer prices - their typical offer is 8-16 oz cans for $40 which is similar to an offer i received recently for a Pilsner that i would love to have tried, HOWEVER, knowing their economies of scale refused to buy...even saw it at the Mills River Gift Shop 4 cans for $20 but still refused when i know i can but quality German Pils for half the price.

Again, apologize for the rambling. Tom will be curious to see how i react when the 'Fest email pops up maybe next month.

    Cheers!
    Tom
