Those wrestlers back in the day were on enough mind altering substances for the whole crowd.
Nothing like a soap opera on ecstasy and steroids!
I enjoyed it back in the Hulk Hogan days, but I was really high then.
Now, I think it's just ******ed. So different than it used to be.
Something makes me think that most of the "wrestling" crowd could care less about craft beer, as long as Natty Light, Bud Light, and Coors Light is available.
I would never find myself at a wrestling event, but if I was I wouldn't expect anything good available on tap.

I used to run into Hulk Hogan at the Dean and Deluca in Charlotte years ago and a can of Bud looked like a thimble in Andre the Giant's hand. Hulk Hogan was quite nice really. That's all I know.

Ha! Looks like "the people of Walmart" wrestling federation. Actuall, holy shit that works...Sunday Sunday Sunday @ Dark Horse POW presents Draft Slam '22 featuring Kid Cologne (in the Scotty Karate corner) facing off against Big Daddy Cornball (in the Boffo Brown corner).
Ooof that was a whole lotta dancing around they had to find a parking lot because no gym would have 'em. My hats off to those in the small grass roots underground circuits, the good ol days of the territories have been lost to the giants of spectacle and drama.

Thank you for thinking of me, but I am not in the same league as @mschrei. His passion for, and knowledge of, craft beer and pro wrestling is unrivaled.

This conversation starts with Revolution. If they only brewed these two beers honoring Mean Gene Okerlund, they would still be among my all time favorites. I watched wrestling 6th/7th grade, and that meant AWA (Minnesota and Midwest) and Bob Luce Wrestling (Chicago & Milwaukee) in the early 1980s on WSNS UHF Channel 44 Chicago.

This is the perfect marriage of craft beer and pro wrestling. Internet smark: "my subjective tastes are better than your garbage palate. We enjoy the same hobbies, but I am superior, for I consume the superior product."

AEW is good shit, but WWE is too. That ROH era a few years ago was top notch as well. TNA, NJPW have had their moments, TNA is down now, but still has a decent women's division going that is about on par w AEWs. Its weird how both beer and wrestling have so many options now, but there seems to be a general grievance from those who are into the hobbies.

My dream crossover right now is Orange Cassidy & Danhausen versus Lesnar and Lashley.

    Oooof an even worse take.

I was drinking Revision IPA at the WWE event last Sunday. Wish I had a pic: Eddie Guerrero socks, Mean Gene Okerlund tshirt, Riddle Original Bro hat, New Day shorts.

sorry, I may have been a bit harsh. I just don't think that WWE is making product that is for adults these days. It's focused towards kids, and that's fine. It's just not what I want to watch. But that's what the large amount of the public thinks wrestling is -- WWE. I was just trying to say that there's an alternative out there that is different than what the majority of the public thinks wrestling is and that people here may appreciate that more than WWE's content.

I feel you and agree with that take.

WWE is like light beer. Its more popular than other styles of beer/wrestling, and you know, it hits the spot at times even if its not what I want most of the time.

With that said, Jericho is my fave of all time, Danhausen is my current fave, and Karl Fredricks (njpw dojo but is appearing on AEW Dark) is my future guy. So I'm very much all about AEW's product. I just don't feel the need to trash WWE or Miller Lite bc they still hold value to me.

Today's fantasy card (all wrestlers are in their prime unless otherwise noted)

Young Bucks v. New Day .

    Kenny Omega v. Ricochet.

    Danhausen v. Omos

    Okada v. JBL

    Cena v. Inoki

    Kurt Angle v. Ken Patera

    Chris Jericho v. Bruno Sammartino

That's a great fantasy card. My wife and I keep on joking that Vince is going to shorten Ricochet's name to "Chet" and it makes us laugh very hard. I hope you can go forward and spread the Chet gospel to others.

That is good stuff, especially in light of Theory/Riddle losing their first names (among others). I'm on board.

Tell you what, I got my $40 worth of ticket the first match Sunday night. Price of admission alone was Walter/Gunther's loud AF chops and Chet's flippy spots in the first match (Triple Threat for IC title: Walter/Chet/Madcap Moss).

Happy Corbin and Lacey Evans had some absolutely stellar heel work just absolutely dumping on the city of Reno and its residents.

I grew up with ‘60s territorial rassles in Buffalo, NY. My Dad was a booker - I got to meet everyone from Andre the Giant to George Steele way back then.
Everybody drank lots of local beer (Genessee) post-matches at Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant, as I listened in to their road and match stories.
(Fave wrestler? Bruiser Brody.,. a no fuck around dude.,.)

Never lost my appreciation. I always attend the live shows, even got to participate as talent with XPW in LA and FCW in Florida, early 2000s.
Pure joy - standing in a circle in the parking lot 2 hours b4 bell time with Sabu and Sandman, bottles of Negra Modelo in hand, as Kevin Sullivan, Dusty Rhodes and Larry Shreve (Abdullah the Butcher) arrived and hugs go all around. (I got a great story to tell 1 of these daze, when my wife inadvertantly got involved in a match I was in.,.)

I still watch the WWE, AEW and NXT most weeks, been to 3 WrestleMania events and always brought my own cooler full of fuel.
In fact, I’ll be at the WWE ‘Saturday Night Main Event’ here in Fort Myers this wknd,., I got a Big Bad Baptist & a 120 ready to go.

It’s a violent ballet. A soap opera. It’s burlesque. Buff bods & adoring fans. It’s Budweiser-sponsored arenas, but nowadays local Craft Beer gets a tap handle too.

I’ve known about beer & wrestling for over 50 years.
    It’s a thing.,.

    Thanx for letting me rant.,.
