    Not walking but stumbling.

On a more serious note though back in the day when we were in high school we used to always drink and never drive. Sometimes we would walk a couple miles home. It’s doable. It would be much harder to do it to be honest if I was with my wife but if I was with a group of guys I would have no problem taking the 2 mile walk home.

I try not to think too much about all the unsafe behavior I got up to while and after drinking when I was in my teens. My parents put up with a fair bit of my juvenile idiocy.

Two miles is like a 35 minute walk. Grandmas at the mall do that before breakfast.

I’m not sure where the Airbnb is located, but my guess is that it is farther away than two miles. Willey’s store is more than 3 miles away from HF, and that’s about where the paved roads end.

I run a 5k every morning and a 10k every Friday. The distance is not a problem. I just wouldn't want to go for a 2 mile walk in the middle of the summer after a session. I guess I'm in the minority tho.

I feel like long commutes, no matter the conveyance method, go by much quicker when not sober. Two miles is like a 30 minute walk, and that's for slow pokes. By comparison, a hike up or down a trail in Stowe or Smuggler's Notch, carrying a dead Heady or two at one's discretion, could start at around two hours duration. That is, if one is doing a real hike.

Unfortunately I'm not seeing it on Airbnb now. It was down the hill from Hill on either Garvin or Baker Hill, "Elderberry Cottage" was the listing if it ever pops back up. Nice spot! I def get the desire to avoid any duration of walk on a hot day after drinking, though tbh I prob view getting there (given HF being more or less the most vertical point of the area) worse than the walk back unless a level of sloshed you almost can't get there.

It may have been different at the time you posted, but my experience is they aren't refundable.

If you cancel 12 hours or more before your reservation, you will be refunded. I did it last week.

What’s the crowd and experience like in a summer Saturday?

I scrolled through this forum and didn’t find anything. Sorry if it has already been posted. Thanks!

I've only gone on a Saturday once so far and it was the first Saturday they were open, but I thought it was pretty mellow. We got there mid-afternoon and it didn't feel as crowded as some recent Fridays. There was at least one vintage bottle pour available (I had BA What is Enlightenment poured from a magnum) along with draft. But with those options (no vintage bottles for sharing), it was still a complete and satisfying experience since they had Vera Mae and an old vintage of Dorothy on tap along with the old world lagers and hoppy beers. There's plenty of space and tables to spread out, so even if there's a lot of people, it doesn't feel crowded. Hard to beat a beautiful sunny afternoon in the NEK.

I always camped at Elmore - Nice sites, decent little beach, and a fairly quicker drive to/from Hill than Waterbury.

*Edit* meant to quote the camping question earlier but ah well....

Any world on BA Voila, my lady is up there and was curious to grab one at opening tomorrow. I’m always a little weary of a 10% barrel aged impy. They don’t always pack the punch I want for a BA.

What specifically are you looking for in a “10% barrel aged impy:” Hill is not thick…tannin/oak/wood convolutions are at play

You judge BA imperial stouts by ABV? I guess in terms of thickness? I love BA stouts and honestly wish there were more in the 10% range, many seem to push 15% these days.

Have not had the beer, just find this comment intriguing. Have had the base beer (regular Viola Sofia) and it’s a fantastic well-balanced imperial stout, no adjuncts and not too sweet. Mouthfeel on most of these HF BA stouts aren’t typically super thick if that’s what you’re asking, as @M-Fox24 said.

I remember when Dark Lord was shit on for being both too strong and too sweet. These days Dark Lord seems like a plain porter compared to other hype sludge.
