As you can read in the above post (#660):

"The corn amount is slightly higher this time as well."

So, French Disko was brewed using corn and at an amount higher than for Bière d'Alsace.

FWIW, I use corn when I make my annual batch of Classic American Pilsner (CAP) and there is a sensory aspect which I also perceive but have difficulty articulating. My CAPs do not taste like "corn" for my palate but there is indeed 'something' there.

    Cheers!

Yup, I noticed that tidbit as well. Maybe that's the something "unique...I couldn't describe"?

So glad I popped over last Friday for a draft. That beer was really fucking good.

Yeah, I enjoyed it as well. Though, tap list for Brighton still has it listed (updated 7/20), Salem does not, so we’ll see if that updates today. Wouldn’t mind snagging another on Friday.

Did you miss it? Brighton still has it on the tap list as of yesterday, but maybe that updates today.

Cans 8/3 so just a little bit of a wait.

Any word on if they are doing Dunkel Weisse this year? If a beer can change ones life, for me It was my first sip of Notch's Dunkel Weisse.

I missed it. At least I can rely on the British IPA being there.

But in all seriousness, I'm sad I missed it, will try to get cans, but I'm also happy that people are digging these beers too. I hope they brew it again too because of its success. It's great to see a brewery carving out a niche, doing it well, and people appreciating it.

I wonder if this is what Tree House people go through...only it's ten times worse because they have hundreds of different beer releases.

I feel like with Tree House, you are INEVITABLY going to miss releases based on how many different releases they have, how much beer you can drink, and how much you can purchase. With Notch, it's rarer that you miss out or only get to have a beer one time, but when it happens, it stinks. I wanted to have more of that Rotbier, but it went pretty quick. This one was also quick. IDK, it's a different feeling to me.

But again, I hope these beers' success encourages Notch to brew it again soon. I am not sure how much flexibility is in the schedule and it always seems like capacity is near max utilization.

Had Who Loves the Sun last night with some Mexican food in the courtyard. Dry hopped Kolsch, it was excellent. Place was packed with the Brighton Bazaar going on.

They put that in 12 packs two or three years ago. I drank through a pack quickly - a very cool little beer.

Went to notch before beach House at roadrunner. The hefe is too good. The dry hopped hefe is unreal as well.

Whoa! A dry hopped Hefeweizen!?! :astonished:

    Yes indeed:

    “bread & roses

    Dry-Hopped Hefe Weisse || 5.2% || Weisse Glass

    Taste: Banana, Melon, Citrus

Notes: Our classic Bavarian wheat beer dry hopped with the German varieties Huell Melon and Mandarina Bavaria. Open fermented for maximum aroma and flavor, and dry hopped to showcase how these beautiful German varieties mix with the Banana fermentation character.”

I have never tasted a dry hopped Hefeweizen and to the best of my recollection this is the first time I have heard of a brewery dry hopping this style of beer.

I suppose we can say that Notch kicked it up a ‘notch’.

    Cheers!
