Right! Not the Murk I was expecting....so Pure Project is what I am most familiar with and I will premise with that...to me all of their Murks start off great! Juicy, floral, and full of tropical fruit notes. That said, in my mileage with them the aftertaste/finish always hits with a bit of a chalky chemical note to me...aspirin maybe idk is that what the hazebois consider hop burn? If I were still rating brews it would be in the B+ / 3.75 territory. Slightly disappointing but still enjoyable... I was sold on the label, what can I say.

Came out for the Revolution Deep Woods prerelease draft, to see if I should buy more tomorrow.

Revolution Coconut Deth



Bar Notes: $15, 8 ounce, 15% ABV. Imperial Stout brewed with Coconut.

Appearance: Pitch black base, creamy rich brown head leaves only a rim above the base. 4.25

Aroma: Coconut, and more enticing fresh coconut after several minutes. Getting a tease of roast chocolate and barrel after a few more minutes. Seems warm enough by touch to start drinking. 4.5

Taste: Very nice mix leads off, a sharp spicy bourbon edging out the oatmeal base and generous helpings of coconut. Strong individual components, blend well. This is a sipper for certain, and the 90F temps outside is slowing me down further. Enjoying each sip. 4.75

Mouthfeel: Very rich and thick base, creamy with marginal light fizzy carbonation. Light dryness, a bit chalky, tastes at or perhaps higher than the listed 15% ABV. Smooth bourbon going down, lingering malt and vanilla sweetness I didn’t notice until now, about 15 minutes in. Bourbon aftertaste is nice. 4.50

Overall: If you like coconut, this beer is for you. If you like the taste of bourbon, this is the beer for you. If you like strong rich creamy imperial stouts, this is the beer for you. 8 oz work in this hot weather, but will save my allotment with confidence for when the nice crisp Autumn air arrives. Another top shelf DW winner. 4.5

But I digress - the beer is delicious, especially if you enjoy Citra hops (duh), so I am digging the shiznit out of this excellent hazy. Fo shizzle.
