The 18th Street collab, named Shop Talk, is quintessential Midwest IPA. One of the most balanced IPAs I’ve had in a long long time. Brilliant stuff.

Opened a can of thundertaker and it’s delicious. It’s been said in this thread many times before but bears repeating: thank the Neckbeard Gods for bestowing this humble barrel program upon us and making it accessible. Even for folks like myself that live downstate but can still walk into the Peoria binnys and purchase the goods. Hell yeah.

for anyone still sitting on some deth by cherries….I took the last ounce or two of thundertaker and layered in some deth by cherries and really liked it. Call it a poor man’s (rich man’s? Depending on perspective) take on BCS variant for those of us that have been in the game long enough to remember what things used to be like.

Pretty chill at rev right now.
Here’s my 2 cents: Roses> super massive > db thunder

I’m a bourbon guy and 4 roses is one of my favorites so I’m a bit biased. Supermassive so well balanced for a heavily adjuncted beer (by rev standards). Db thunder had a little soy sauce, a little too sweet for me for a non-adjunct/pastry stout. I’m also not a willet fan.

From what I tried, Supermassive > Roses > Thundersauce. Supermassive gave me some nice Benthic vibes, all of the flavor elements very fresh and prominent. Four Roses is my favorite bourbon, and I love Big Barrel Energy, so it was right up my alley. Taking nothing away from Thundersauce, which was also lovely.

had Coconut Deth last night and holy shit, its amazing. I only got the 1 4-pack that came in my season ticket as I don't generally like coconut in my beers, but that was a major mistake. This is unbelievably delicious and I'm going to thoroughly enjoy my last few cans.

Barrel 6150, Sanctuary #11 & Sanctuary #28 are still on the taproom website.

I will be breathlessly checking my email for the next 72 hours to see if crowlers are being offered to season ticket holders...

Thundertaker still floating in Binnys CL. 13 left at time of writing. Minus 1. Didn't want to leave an unlucky pack on top. Superstitions and all...

That makes 5 total for me. You guys will have to do your part now...

Nope ... but it's early in the week - i'd guess it will show up by Friday.

Overheard a story on Friday. A chap had been at one of the preview parties and said Marty revealed that the barrels holding OG Thundertaker were affected by the polar vortex we had awhile back. In order to "fix" the beer (a la Code Switch) they had to blend Ryeway and Deth's Tar in with the Thundertaker base beer in order to salvage the batch.

That would make this new version the ACTUAL Thundertaker as Revolution intended.

Any truth to this, @BeerCruncher ?

And if it IS true, we should probably have a new entry for this version.

Of course, this could be complete hogwash.

(He also claimed the first batch was intended to come out right before Black Friday, "taking" the "thunder" away from another breweries annual rite of passage. I choose to believe this regardless of what anyone says to the contrary)

I want this to be true because it’s awesome and false because it’s an amazing drunk story.

Would possibly help to explain the postponement of the Thundertaker release in 2020 from April to September. Polar Vortex was in late January 2019 fwiw so this seems to time out right as well.

Just happened to crack my first '22 Thundertaker earlier this evening. Drinking incredibly imo. A beautiful, complex, unadulterated stout. Definitely in my wheelhouse. Would love to see this as a yearly release. Cheers to Rev on, for me anyway, a lead off home run.

I mean, have you ever put a rubber duckie in a polar vortex? If so, then you already know the answer.
