Quite the price hike if I recall correctly. Also, from speaking with Tarpey I'm under the impression that this is the only way Starve E will be available. I recall A and B being released the same way but C, D and D Reserve were all regular public releases. Curious what drove the decision to make it a festival exclusive bottle if in fact that ends up being the case? Maybe some incentive to buy a ticket?

Crossing the state line into Maryland. Three on tap at the Ale House in Columbia: Black and Blue Mega Tastee, Dirt Nap, and Nature Boi.

Not sure if any local bottle shops have started to stock their offerings.

I never paid attention to it before so never knew it was not an option (or I just forgot since I'm not local to either location) but apparently Veil has opened up the option to pre-order Food AND Beer online for pickup from their Norfolk and Forest Hill locations. Looks like you can even schedule a pickup up to 8 days out.

You could always do the beer 8 days out, but the food thing is new.

I can only speak to the Norfolk location, but they removed online ordering for curbside/pick up sometime last year.

Heads up if you purchased tickets to Forever Summer or are planning to attend. Apparently Veil combined sessions B & C so there are only two now but didn't make a post about it unless I didn't catch it or they just communicated with those that already purchased tickets. Good news is they extended each of the two new sessions out an hour so attendees get 4 hours/session instead of 3.

    Session Blocks:
    • Session A: 11:00am - 3:00pm
    • Session B & C: 3:30pm - 7:30pm

Apparently Veil finally sent out emails to Session B/C attendees to advise of the session merge. “We’re giving you an extra hour!” though it likely really means ticket sales are not as expected. Also looks like there will be 32 beers poured so I wonder if anyone else is trying to justify the nearly $182 ticket (after taxes & fees) for 96oz of beer at the fest, a 500ml bottle of Starve E and a tasting glass.I get proceeds go to charity and one year they donated something like $25k from the fest. Am I missing something else included. Assuming Veil figures $50 value on the bottle that’s just over $4 (or $1.35/oz) on each beer being poured. The cost of the glass is negligible.

I don't think it is the per oz math that is a huge deterrent, I just think in general the interest in these kind of ticketed "higher end" beer fests is in real decline.

What makes you think each brewery is only bringing 1 beer each? Not saying you’re wrong but was curious if you heard this from someone.

I understand the 3 ounce limit on barrel aged stouts, but limiting a 3 ounce pour of the hops/lagers being poured from places like Root + Branch and Suarez seems a bit silly.

    Not sure if this screenshot will carry over but from someone in the BTV group that posted a pic of the email they received on July 22nd. It states;

    IMPORTANT UPDATES
Hello! you are receiving this message because you purchased tickets to Forever Summer Festival Festival 2022 and we have some new information to share.

We have merged Session B & C. If you purchased a ticket for Session C, please note the new timeframes below.

Merging the session allowed us to give folks more time to enjoy all 32 offerings, our special out of town food option, and the gorgeous view.

    Session A: 11am - 3pm
    Session B: 3:30pm - 7:30pm

    ___________________________________________________________________

Maybe I'm assuming but when it mentioned "time to enjoy all 32 offerings" I took that to mean enjoy 32 tastings and not 32 guest breweries. If you read the event details and Lineup of breweries there's about 32 listed and it also states your ticket includes 1x 3oz taste of each beer available if you desire.

I looked back at the 2019 Beer List from the festival and it also showed 1 beer from each of the 33 guest breweries being poured and then Veil had 4 of their own beers for a total of 37 3oz tastings. If anyone on here attended in 2019 they can confirm I would guess.

Wow. That really puts this festival price into perspective. It was probably the most expensive stateside festival I’ve seen, and now only having one beer from each brewery makes it even crazier. Wakefest costs like half the price with unlimited pours of a hundred + beers.

And that beer list absolutely sucks. Hell, my wife and I could probably buy each beer and fry it shipped to us for a cheaper price than what we paid for the tickets, let alone hotel, gas, food, etc.

Breweries only bringing one beer completely changes my outlook on this festival. I should have done more research on this but for the price they were charging, I thought for sure there would be more choices from each visiting brewery.

To hell with this. Are tickets transferable? I paid $363 for two tickets and probably would be willing to let go of them for $200 total. What a fraud this is.

Veil just posted the beer line-up for FS. I counted 39 pours/session. Indeed most are bringing one beer (Veil of course has multiple) though Answer has 2/session and Side Project also has 2 but it's a different beer for each session so both won't be available at the same time.

Wow, what a shitty beer list for $180. Between the price, the fact that it'll probably be blazing in the 90's and now this beer list they have the trifecta of suck happening. No wonder they can't sell any tickets. Probably would have been a lot less sold if all this info would have come out before tickets went on sale.

Thanks for posting this. Still can’t help but think that this is insanely overpriced for what you get.

Yep. I could probably find someone on Facebook to sell me the majority of these beers shipped to my house for the cost of the two tickets alone.

Also, will 3 ounce pours of the majority of these beers even be enjoyable? Good god, I would rather have a 12 ounce pour of one ipa/lager than 3 ounce pours of four different ipas/lagers.

At least Side Project is bringing the heat. The rest of the breweries look like its just whatever was next up on deck. Typically see most other festivals where the breweries pouring bring the good stuff or at least something thats not on regular rotation.

Still though, only getting one 3 ounce pour from Side Project is crazy. Wakefest had unlimited pours of stuff like the Bake Kujiras, Black Magicks, Eunoias, Angry Chair's big barrel aged stouts, along with the lighter stuff and the general admission tickets are only like $80. Other Half bringing a shelf ipa is the biggest LOL of them all.

Literally NOTHING on that list is special or exciting with exception to the two SP beers and Starve E. Then again, the new Starve has a good chance of sucking also with the way their BA stouts have been trending the last two years. I'm really glad I didn't buy tickets this year

I've been seeing random Veil kegs show up in shops throughout the Raleigh area. Are they distributing at least something here full time now?
