    Ron (@patto1ro ),

I was a bit surprised to see that the 1890 Suffolk XXXX beer was brewed using Hallertauer Mittelfrüh hops. Firstly, is this a recipe for an Adnams beer? Were German hops often/typically used in English brewing?

    Cheers!

Yes it's from Adnams and yes, German hops were common. UK brewing used hops from every country that produced them.

Ron, I was aware that British brewers used US hops (e.g., Cluster hops for bittering) but not aware of the Germany -> UK connection.

    Cheers!

I just happen to be drinking a 1890 Suffolk XXXX right now. And very nice it is, too.

    Cheers to you Ron! :beers:

Later this evening I will be enjoying my homebrewed Bitter Ale which was brewed using Thomas Fawcett floor malted Maris Otter Pale Malt, Goldings hops, and the Timothy Landlord yeast strain.

    Cheers!
