    Sleep screwed up once again, so it's convenient to open up the bar before 8 AM (many licenses here can open at 7 AM). Didn't like the taste straight from the bottle last week. Digging it as normal after pouring in the glass today, and will resume pouring all beers including bottles into a glass.

    Yup. taking a day too, some weird hip pain popped up yesterday after the run, not sure what's going on. time for some ice and ibuprofen.

    I’m giving myself the gift of a day of hooky from work. Oh, and this beer:

    For being 9-10 months old (refrigerated most of it), Hardywood’s Kentucky Christmas Morning is holding up quite well, perhaps losing some of the coffee but not much else.

    Edit: untappd doesnt seem to have a maltgarden arrival :slight_smile:

    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4
    Deep, dark brown body, nearly black in the glass, opaque; thin yet creamy and lasting head; thin sheets of khaki foam coat the glass interior. Outstanding charred and roasted grain smell; suggestions of cocoa and dark roasted coffee. Exquisite taste; rich, malty sweetness with no cloying qualities; nice grain char and hop bitterness. Heavy body; silky residual sugar feel; some grain dryness but semi-sweet mouthfeel overall.

    Outer Range has nailed this straightforward take on a stout. It does appear that some espresso and oats were utilized in its creation, yet its complexity is subtle and nuanced, giving the impression of a simple, elegant beer. A satisfying dark ale done right.
