I will be in Munich for 5 nights, starting 25SEP22.... planning on a few days/nights at the Wiesn, with some Biergartens thrown in, plus day trips to Bamberg and Kloster Andechs. If anyone is around then perhaps we can try to hook up for a Bier....

Also will be in Maastricht, Netherlands 21SEP for 4 nights, then Ghent, Belgium from 30SEP for 5 nights...

    Prosit!!!

Also, don't forget that research project on the Wurst stand we talked about! Right outside the H-P tent? Hopefully it's still there and continuing the tradition.

We are in Munich the 24th-30th. Hitting the Fest on the 25th and 28th. Preceeded by stops in Brussels, Bruges, Bamberg, and Rothenburg.

A trip 5 years in the making. So jacked up to get over there.

Hope you have a great trip! Your city choices are fantastic locations.

There are endless bars, restaurants, breweries, & wonderful sites in each city.
Here are four bars that I highly recommend visiting, all four are very unique in their own way:
    Brussels: Moeder Lambic Fontainas
    Bamberg: Torschuster
    Brugge: Vlissinghe,
    Brugge: Staminee De Garre

Have a great time & don't forget to report back w/ details & pictures, b/c we all live vicariously through fellow beer travelers:grin:!

    Thank you for the recommendations.
You guys can take the credit for the choice of cities... I chose them after thoroughly reading this forum.

I'll be in Germany for a last minute business trip (don't ask how much it cost to book an international business-class airline ticket with only 8 days notice), but won't be able to hit Munich. Has anyone been to Cannstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart? There's relatively little info on here about it.

Cannstatter is a great fest, sort of like Oktoberfest's little brother. Oktoberfest draws around 6 million people per year, while the Stuttgart fest has about 3 million visitors.

It is usually pretty easy to find a table to sit at, but there has been an occasion or two for me where they lock the doors due to crowding and I had to sit in the outdoor area of the tent. But other times, tents can seem almost deserted.

The four different fest beers on offer at the festival are generally pretty good, but their quality can vary from year to year.

I will be there with a few friends on Sunday, September 25 if you'd like to try to hook up for a few beers...!

I realize this portIion should probably be in the Belgium Thread, but this is where you guys asked for the details of the Oktoberfest trip.

We started with two days in Brussels. Hit Delirium, Moeder Lambic, and even pounded a few Leffe with a Chargers fan from LA at The Big Game when we found some NFL in between the soccer matches. Absolutely loved everything, but I could live at Moeder.

The morning we left town, we walked to Cantillon and were lucky enough to meet an awesome Australian Couple we could share a few bottles with. Lambic Lovers wet dream. We left with a suitcase full of bottles.

Headed up to Brugges where we had free passes to both the Beer Experience and a Beer Tour. Neither was anything special, both they both came with plenty of delicious, if not noteworthy Belgian Beer. Ran into the Aussies from Cantillon twice more.

We also had a chance to knock a few back at 't Poatersgat, 't Brugs Beertje. and De Gaar. Didn't make it to Rose Red because we decided to spend the rest of the night with a Texan and two Franconians at Le Trappist. More awesome Lambics and Trappists. Two places had Westvleteren 12 on the menu, but when we asked they said they did not have it. Tried the Blond and the 8... both were fantastic. We were able to snag 3 bottles of the 12 at a bottle shop to add to our growing suitcase of beer.

Thanks again to everyone on this forum for steering us in the right directions. So far just an awesome experience. Really great beer, but more importantly we have met some great people from around the world along the way. And we haven't even made it to Germany yet!

    Prost!
