Who do you think his running mate would be? I'm going with a 4 pack of Troon.

Coconut is showing up in some Binnys fyi. Seems pretty hit or miss on which ones have gotten it so far.

Adding the perforation to the shrink wrap labels is just another way that Rev is killing it. Without the perforation, it's such a pain to get them off the can.

Binny's website for Des Plaines shows Limited Availability. Sadly, just drove over and no go. AH Binnys shipment missed/fell off this week's truck. The chase continues.

Wow, Lumberstruck, just WOW! My first thought was “I’m having trouble imagining that anything can top this!” My second was “Damn, I wish I had more than a single 4-pack!” It seems so deft for such a big beer. It’s soooo good, I think I might just have FUPAed all over myself.

I was blown away by this beer. Next level, even by Deep Wood standards. Hilarious to me that the fantastic Coconut Deth is easily my least favorite of the 3.

It's hard to imagine any of the other release dates topping this one.

What is everyone thinking for ranking of the 3 deep woods beers released?

    My ranking is:
    1. Thundertaker
    2. Coconut Deth
    3. Lumberstruck

I will say, I really don’t like coconut but I gave it a fair shot and coconut deth surprised me. I don’t need more than my 4pack but I’ll end up drinking them.

Solid release overall and yes it will be hard to top, at least until we get to boss ryeway and DBVSOJ.

I didn't really like my first can of Lumberstruck but had a second this weekend knowing what it was and was not, and really liked it a lot more.

Artwork for Boss Ryeway is awesome

And yet somehow they wind up doing it.

Also makes you wonder what Goose Island could be if they focused on barrel aging rather than marketing barrel aging.

After having a can of each this wknd, (different days, clean palate each time) I just can’t name a true #1 yet. Thundertaker takes me back to the OG BA stout glory days and Lumberstruck had some real Mineshaft Gap vibes going on. Coconut Deth has a dry finish that wasn’t for me, but hoping it melds together a little more before my next can. Only regret with the season pass so far is not buying extra Lumberstruck. What an awesome start!

I'll second this...with the caveat that 1 and 2 were by a RAZOR THIN margin.

EDIT: I do think Thundertaker should have two entries, but not strongly enough to go rogue. I'd love to have confirmation on the polar vortex anecdote I heard about batch 1 that would strongly back this up, but I realize @BeerCruncher has better things to do than verify or disqualify message board conjecture!

As a side note, the Beer Temple podcast episode that just came out interviewing @BeerCruncher was pretty great. Nothing mind blowing, just a good conversation and reinforces the notion that Doug is the kind of person you'd want to have a beer or two with.

I've been Lumberstruck. If you had asked me my expectations prior to this release, I was not even planning to purchase Lumberstruck. In my experience, I've not really enjoyed wine barrel treatments. I was fortunate to get a season ticket and, well, color me impressed with Lumberstruck. Such a unique flavor profile and the wine barrels are not overbearing at all but rather contribute nicely to drawing out the characteristics of the base barleywine.

I've been impressed with both Thundertaker and Coconut Deth as well. Echoing @GuyFawkes above, it is hard for me as well to believe they can top this release this season. Kudos to Rev for three outstanding beers.

What are stocks on Lumberstruck looking like? Volume released, difficulty to attain, etc.
