Anyone else think it is pretty bizarre that they decided to just pull all that Anabasis?

Yea, I get it. You wanted to sell out, and you didn’t, but it feels a bit like a petulant child throwing a temper-tantrum the way that they took it down and then aren’t even selling it to go when they had >300 packages that didn’t sell online. They didn’t indicate you only had 50 minutes to buy. More people would undoubtedly buy if they left it up. There is even precedent with achromatic vibes that it would be left online (and/or that there might not be a package to go, but perhaps single or a reduced package, like with the original 2-bottle to go package).

Personally, this rubs me the wrong way. Like, “Shit! We can’t let people know!” Or, trying to limit the amount in circulation now that they know it wouldn’t sell out. I mean, if they wanted to reserve it for on-site, they would have not had so many packages available. So, it’s obviously about it not selling out.

 

I keep wondering if it pops up on Tavour

 

I think any guarantees LC had of getting anything went out the window this year. I’m not expecting them.

 

I guess this didn’t really surprise me much. SP thrives on hype and word of mouth advertising. They have to keep the hype up and anabasis failing to sell out is bad for business.

knowing this, the decision to pull packages early is not surprising. I just think the veil is lifting a bit on the magic of SP.

 

These are $40+ sours, not stouts. It’s been quite a while since LC wasn’t offered a sour.

Well we know from every CDC post 4 and last year’s Tete there’s probably a million bottles

 

i suppose there could be some truth to that but Tete & Oude Fermier seem like obvious candidates for LC allotments. then again, maybe there’s a shit ton and they see how the IP sales go, then offer them to LC and / or put them up online as a package?

 

this brings up a great point: i wonder if they’re selling them as packages to-go or you can pick and choose because i would think in that case most people are going to pick 1 or 2 out of 3 to try and not spend $140+tax on sours.

 

I can’t think of a single time they’ve had a big to go release where multiple beers were released at once.


Except in the OG days where Cory would hand tickets to people for fuzzy or something like that, but that’s clearly different.

 

man im here excited about all the great beer coming out, and you guys keep throwing water on it

I’m sure Tete will be good but expectations are in check.

 

I am really looking forward to these too, I hope LC is allotted some because I probably won’t be able to make it to Fermier day. CDC b6 is my favorite of the 9 so far and is in the same vein as the three new releases.

by the way, I didn’t see open spaces b2 mentioned yet today. It was offered to LC at 1pp *edit - never mind*

 

I’m excited for the bottles with the hope they make it to the non-attending general public. I’ve never had an Oude Fermier (gasp!).

 

same here. i know it’s all sour beer and they hardly have a sour whale anymore but this is like mardi gras here.
