Lunch. An IPA brewed by Maine Beer Company.

Any clams experts out there? Question. I bought a bag of 50 clams for tonight. One had already opened so threw that one away. I heard that should be what is done. Put the rest in a bowl of water and placed the bowl in the refrigerator for a few hours so far. Wife said that three more had opened. Should I discard those also?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide. I have a bit more knowledge about oysters but relatively little about clams.

Her name isn’t Sara, is it? And be careful if she insists on a second.

(Sorry, just somewhat obscure movie reference that penetrated my mind - meant in good humor )

A little aging experiment complete. This is a Woodan from Ganter in Freiburg. I bought this beer in late 2017 (BB date is 2018). Someone told me it ages nicely. This is a doppelbock at 7.5% ABV. Carbonation is much lower than fresh. It is absolutely fantastic, and the flavors are more intense now. I don't think I would age it further, but this is amazing. Prost!

    • Hard shell clams should be tightly-closed. If you find that any are open when you get them home, gently tap the shells on the counter or flick them with your finger and wait a few seconds. If they’re alive, they’ll close up. Any clams that don’t close, or that have chipped or cracked shells, should be discarded.
    • Since soft shell clams often can’t close all the way, tap or touch the side of the shell or the siphon to see if either moves. If the siphon is small enough to retract, it will. If there’s no response to tapping or touching, the clam has perished and should be discarded.
Clams that have died during the process can contaminate the rest of the bunch, so you want to get them out of there as soon as you can.

DDH King Sue from Toppling Goliath. This is their best wide-distro beer, bar none. I still stand by my claim that it was better out of the bottle. I love you. Peace...

My local packie stopped carrying Toppling Goliath, and 3 Floyds because they didn't sell. The beer guy told me that himself - anywhere else that still has it around here - it's really old - like a year or more. 3 Floyds initially sold okay but then the sales just dropped off. Okay with me, I was never overly enamored by either of them.

75°F during the day. 72°F at night. That works for me!

Toppling doesn't sell in my area either. This particular beer is an anomaly, as much as it is a justifiable purchase. 3F's doesn't sell, either. Both of them waited too long to hit wide distribution w/ TG out-pricing themselves in the market.

Another beer leftover from our beach vacation just over a month ago.

Obviously a reference to another flashback entertainment media production that involved little to no mules - one of the first “prime time” shows I was into.

The beer is pretty dang solid, though I’m a tad confused/interested on how the “smoked” aspect bleeds into the roasted malt bleeds into the barrel aging.

    Random circumstances made us skip out on seeing these guys tonight;

[IMG] Good Friday evening! I’m just sitting down to enjoy a beautiful evening with a great beer (Equlibrium’s “Four Fours” 4 way collaboration). My wife then drops a little surprise on me: “Don’t get too comfortable ! We have to go into Philly tonight to pick up our daughter and her friends at a concert! Son of a……!!!!

I considered picking up some Pseudo Sue but when I looked at the date it was a 2020 beer. It's been sitting there that long LOL. Honestly, I just all of a sudden got tired of paying $17+ for 4 cans of beer. I picked up a 12 pack of Stone tonight for $19 - I don't feel like I'm being deprived.

Not sure what an appropriate comment would be. But I can say any picture with a water surrounding is always good.

Maplewood Juice Jorts pale, really turbulent for a pale, but juicy indeed, and almost green onion-y.
