Yeah, I made that discovery and posted that info a few posts later in this thread. Thanks.

Since there was some Ayinger Oktoberfestbier discussion, I'll just add that I picked up a single 330 dated April 26th, so at least it wasn't all bottled in February.

The Hacker-Pschorr I grabbed with it was May 5th. I was pretty happy with how both were tasting and will probably commit to a full pack of each. I hope I get similarly lucky with Spaten once I'm ready for it, despite the concerns about it being year-round now.

    "Brewed on",
really? What good is that without knowing fermentation and lagering time? Never saw a standard release using a brewing date.

I believe all the German imports have made it to North Texas as of today. Ayinger in the 4-pack and 500 mL bottles showed up this morning at Total Wines in the area with Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbrau, Weihenstephaner and the usual year-rounds on the shelf.

Locally, Manhattan Project's limited release of their Marzen is pretty rapidly getting snapped up. I'm going to be able to grab maybe 1 or 2 more packs before it's out of here. Still have yet to see Real Ale which is somewhat surprising given it's usually one of the first ones out, but it's not a beer I'm after.

Turns out it was old. Best by date was from November of last year. I went to another place that had it and the best by date was May of 23 so it looks like it had been on the shelves for quite a while.

Sorry to hear, was hoping it might be being imported more regularly.

Whoops, didn't finish my train of thought. Paulaner, Spaten and Weltenburger

Weltenburger doesn't actually label as an Oktoberest or Festbier, do they?

Any idea how well Spaten & Paulaner sell down there?

Our retailers and distros know anything labeled as "Oktoberest" drops off in sales when November hits.

Correct, I believe they just slapped märzen on the front of the new cans to make it clear what it was.

Paulaner sells pretty well year-round. Spaten less so but Spaten has consistently been on the shelves all year while we had issues getting consistent Paulaner through the summer.

Pretty sure it's always been a Märzen, it's one of those that's labeled by ABV in Germany. Do they have some new, add-on label?

We see Weltenburger up here year-round, too -- but it doesn't say "Oktoberest," so there's no red flag.

Yep it's always been a märzen, it was just less readily apparent/definitely sold less with the bottles versus the cans that have "Märzen Bier" slapped on them twice along with the packaging.

I have seen the "Ultimate" in 4 packs at my local Wegman's (I didn't price it). If my local distributor gets it in, then we can buy singles out of the 4-packs (if desired).

I don't think that Weltenburger labels an Okto or a Festbier. Their Anno 1050 is a Märzen that seems to be available year-round.

Oktos have made their appearance here. I picked up Weihenstephan (500 ml cans), Hofbrau, Sly Fox, and Sams Adams Okto last weekend. I saw Troeg's (in12 packs) and Victory. And Yuengling. Oops - and Founder's "Ultimate" in 4 packs. I also saw Spaten, but it was dated 09/22.

Ayinger should be in in the next couple of weeks. Apparently the kegs got delayed and the shipping outfit is waiting for them in order to deliver the whole pallet.(I think the distributor gets a pallet) in one go. I have a box reserved, so no worries there.

My local distributor has a set of shelves taped off with signs saying that fall beers are coming and that customers can pre-order them.

All the German Festbier/Oktoberfest showed up, seem to be very fresh which is nice. This is the only time of year that you know for sure the imports haven’t been sitting around for months. Bought a 6pack of Bitbruger Festbier

Take nothing for granted -- be sure there is a V, not a U in the codes of any Hofbräu you might want to pick up.

Our distro has been known to hold on to last year's leftovers and try to pass them off.

Yep, last year I had to explain this to Total Wine when I saw a bunch of T's on the shelf. They were right next to a bunch of U's, so the distributor dropped off both.
