Yeah, it would be interesting to see if there was any discernible difference.

New beer from the best brewery in Maynard

Brewers notes: made with blue ox malt house pale, vyenna and Munich malts, valley malt chocolate rye, east Kent holding hops . In collaboration with box cutter facelift

Pours a dark brown liquid with numerous micro carbonation streams and a one finger taupe foam cap that quickly dissipates, few lacings

    Aroma is figs, raisins

Taste~ the taste is fig, dark malts, chocolate, rye , muddy earth

    Earthy hop bitterness that lingers

Like barleywines but this is not one that I am appreciating all that much

A barleywine by any other name would still taste as yummy.....or something like that.
I really thought this beer would be in the barleywine category, was surprised to see rye beer, but guess it fits due to grain bill. Hoping @DIM will allow this one in the thread too!

This beer was part of EPL BIF winnings, thank you @FBarber !
Revolution Brewing, Ryeway to Heaven a 15.0% brew seems a great way to cap off a nice Saturday.

    onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can poured into my snifter. Can is date stamped 12-06-2021. Been in my cellar for several months.
The beer pours a deep rich mahogany color and reveals garnet highlights when I hold my glass to the light. I get a dense khaki colored head of 1 cm. this foam becomes a thin edge layer and one large wispy island in the center of the glass.
the aroma on this beer is bold and robust, with rich malt complexity. I get brown sugar and some bourbon notes mixing with a general booziness and hints of caramel and toffee. I get a little spicy rye mixed in the background for added complexity. No hop profile that I pick up on the nose.
The first sip reveals a fairly big body with a thick and sticky texture that coats my palate on each sip. I get sticky residue on my lips as well. Definitely a nice sipping beer on the physical traits.
Flavor is sweet up front with bourbon and toffee mixing with some brown sugar. There is a good dose of booze that shows up and lingers as warmth after each sip. I do get some drying bite note on the finish, maybe some black pepper , maybe the rye in grain bill. I am enjoying this beer, slowly, as I dont think drinking this one fast is a good strategy.
Very nice boozy sipper, glad to have tried it!

That big, beautiful beast absolutely belongs here. I got that from @FBarber as well and loved it.

Absolutely love that beer - it's always been the dark horse for best barrel aged beer from Revolution. So glad you both enjoyed it!

We had a great trip but it's good to be home enjoying something from my cellar from favorite glass while reading in my favorite chair.

This is kind of an odd one. Up front I taste sweet apple and pear, then caramel, toffee, and strong whiskey join the fray. The finish is where this gets strange, I get an almost pez like candied fruit note. I can't say which color, never tasted anything like it in a beer before. There is a lingering bitterness, oak and leafy, piney hops. Pretty good overall.

Last Saturday (8-20-2022) I stopped at Zymurgy taproom in Menomonie, WI.
Had a full pour of 2019 Barrel Aged Talisman. Served rather warm like at about 55+ degrees F it seemed. Dull looking & flat. Taste was plumb a little caramel, sweet. smooth thick and malty. slightly dry and toasty towards the finish. The barrel flavor was mild which is how I like it.
    ABV was rather well hidden.
I liked this one. Not sure which variation I drank

No, never a stout or barleywine box. If they ever do, I'd be really surprised if none of them had extra stuff added. I'd buy one regardless.

Unfortunately, it couldn't save this one. I tried to drink it but I think it may have been infected or something. Started to get a sour, rusty note as it warmed

Popped another one of these to be somewhat on theme for the House of the Dragon (I think that’s it?) premiere last night. Liked it a lot more than before, still very sweet but not cloying. And wound up watching O Brother, Where Art Thou? instead.

Another double barrel offering from Kane, Picture in Reverse- Double Barrel Scotch. 16.1% Blend of barleywines and old ales aged for 27 months in Willett Bourbon barrels we picked up directly from the distillery in Kentucky. We took a small blend and double barrel aged it in non-peated Scotch Whiskey casks.

My exposure is pretty limited so far, but Kane's barrel and blending program is among my favorites. I love their extended aging and the mix of different barrels. This one sounds superb, glad I get to try it.

Plenty sweet and plenty boozy at over 16%, this is still somehow balanced with intriguing nuances. The barrel presence is massive, deep, oaky tobacco, equal parts bourbon and Scotch, with some vanilla at the back end. There is also honey, apricot, molasses, brown sugar, almonds, sweet bread, and a whole hell of a lot more. The body is sticky but a little thin. This kicks ass.
