I get a lot of mixed reviews all over the web, not only about the beer , but the establishment in general, I absolutely love it, they are very helpful, friendly, provide great service, and most of all they never fail to have something new on tap, I don't get it, so any opinions?

Went there while on vacation before the Port Strong Ale Fest a couple weeks ago. Could easily spend an entire weekend there

Great family friendly brewpub with killer house and guest beers and solid slices. I hit the OB location a couple times a month.

I liked the one in Solana Beach that I tried a few years ago. Both the pizza and beer were very good.

the beer they brew is top notch and they always have lot of variety of guest brews
the only negative is there tasters are 1oz and cost a lot i would definitely just stay away from
asking for any taste there or purchasing a taste so you can try something

I know the one in San Clemente is good about it, I always ask for a sample before purchasing, and they have not charged me yet, maybe for multiple samples?

Going there as a BA'er? Ignore yelp. Hell, ignore it most of the time for pretty much any craft beer place.

PP san clemente was always good to me, and the festivals at Carlsbad were always lots of fun. People that complain in online reviews probably weren't there for the beer anyway.

Well I actually was a local in San Clemente for a few years before the army, but I went to post a review on 2 different sites, I wot say any names, but some of the reviews I saw were mind boggling , I loved each individual experience there.

I was going to ask the same question. I have never seen bad reviews here. Who looks at yelp anyway?

I have only been to the Carlsbad location, but it's awesome in my opinion.

Yeah, been to the Carlbard one about a half dozen times. Great food, friendly service, excellent rotating beers, house and guest. Can get crowded at times, but that just means they do a lot right. As for the bad Yelp reviews, sadly, far too many people only go on Yelp to complain. I try to take note of a bad review, if its the only one that person ever wrote, since then to me, it's probably an isolated incident, bad day, odd circumstance, or un-realistic expectations, etc.

Also, OP, since you mention the San Clemente one, they have 4 stars on Yelp, after 206 reviews. That's a great average to have with that many reviews, considering some, inevitable at nearly any business, will be a 1 star.

I know how shallow a lot of these review websites can be, so when I go to establishments that go above and beyond I like to make sure I put my two cents in!

If you are like me and enjoy great beer and have a child, it does not get better than Pizza Port. My only complaint is that there isn't one in Santa Cruz (Where I think one would fit in great and rake it in if management is reading).

Exactly why I love Pizza Port. I usually grab two pints, have some dinner, walk to the beach with my daughter, play around and leave. It's great. Usually frequent the OB location once or more a month.

Oh, and if you don't like seeing kids there, us dads (and moms) usually leave around 8 pm anyway.

Pizza is very good imo. Beers are very good. Growler fills are very high in $$.

I mentioned Poormans above, but left out my favorite Ale of this year's Boonville Beer Fest, Pants Optional Pale Ale. I must of went back eight or nine times for more of that beaut. Highlight of the festival, especially in that 90+ degree weather.
