Anyone in NJ see the Weihenstephan Festbier cans yet? I called a placed down the road, bottles finally came in this week but no cans at this place. It would be nice to fill the half liter mug with one can as opposed to two bottles and then some.

    Too much work?

Actually, isn't there a little left over after you fill a half liter with two 11.2 ounce bottles?

No, but would either be drink one ~16 oz can or 2 bottles at ~22 oz.

More about consumption than work :beers:

I know. I've had my share of gushers. And ones with sediment on the bottom of the bottle.
I've found that if the Ayinger is cold enough (not ice cold, but below 45 F, say) I have just enough time to start pouring into a glass before the geyser erupts. But I can't dawdle.

Ayinger wasn't the worst geyser I ever had, though. There was some porter or stout (I forget which one exactly, but it was an American one) that gushed several inches and didn't stop. It made quite the mess. That one I did end up opening over (and also in) a sink.:yum:

There should be about half a bottle left over after doing that. A bit more if the bottle is 12 oz.
    1/2 = 3/6 = 2/6 + 1/6 = 1/3 + (1/3)*(1/2) [liters]

I cap that half bottle with a plastic 'tasting cork' (or whatever its called; I picked a couple of packs of them up at a homebrew supply store) to use to construct the next half liter of said brew. Unfortunately this doesn't work well with 11.2 or 12 oz cans.

I didn't see any Hofbrau Freising Festbiers today, nor any Paulaners, but I did finally see Bell's and Great Lake's Oktoberfests (or in Bell's case, Octoberfest). I ended up picking up the Bell's.

Speaking of Samuel Adam's Octoberfest with a "c" (someone above must have been), just got a Sam's Club sale brochure with a big ad for different fall foods and beverages, with the first one being:

Check out that ABV ^. Whoa. :astonished: Maybe BBC does a special batch (high gravity before dilution) for the retailer 'cause they share a first name?

I was going to make a snarky comment about "that's what you get for buying beer from a big box or grocery store..." but, you know what? Whole lot of liquor or (depending on state laws) beer-centric retailers aren't too good in the beer knowledge department, either.

Boo! The Münchin on Hops was pretty good. Won't touch the Pumpkin though.

Most places and people I know just allow you to walk outside and come back in. But im still getting used to the rules myself. Amd it's indeed strange. Becuase I know of a sandwich shop where you can get a 30 pack as well as 2 six packs they even sell fireball. Allegedly in mine craft of course

Also places sell alcohol slushies to go that they make in house?

You can get a hoagie and a beer and drink it in-house while you eat?

    So confusing

I went with a group to the Phillies game last Saturday and one of the group told me that he purchased Fireball at a non-liquor store and I was in disbelief. How the heck did this happen!?!

    Cheers!

Glad to hear it was helpful. FWIW- I have seen the same/similar bottling dates on the Ayinger 375 and 500 mL bottles here in NJ.

Haven't seen the cans either but I'm on the lookout.

@steveh I had a bottle of the SA Festbier recently and I did not care for it. I found my review from last year and similar thoughts but it was just a little worse in some ways this year to me:

I am happy that I just got a single.

For what this is worth, I found a can of last year's Paulaner Festbier in my "save" stash and enjoying it while prepping the grill.

Best by 03-22-22 -- and yet, it's still pretty good.

So I guess we had the 4-packs available last year.

I saw some on closeout for $4.99 so I grabbed a 4 pack. Best by sometime 5/20/22 I believe. The same I had been seeing at Total wine and similar stores. I didn't expect much but tasted great, I went back and grabbed a few more 4 packs. Looking forward to comparing to freshies when eventually I spot them.

I finally found ayinger that was brewed this year may 10th 2022. Unfortunately it was not refrigerated so I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to enjoy.
