I was surprised when this saw distro by me a few months ago. It met expectations and was worth the cost.

So what happens with really big orders? I’m building another box and it’s already at 14 beers. I feel like bigger boxes have a higher likelihood of getting dropped and the weight could cause breakage? Anyone ever do a really big count?

Just got a box with 16 recently. Big box, spot for all the bottles and cans stacked 2 high

I wouldn't worry about it. I've ordered up to 36 cans/bottles at a time & if an order gets to big they just break it into multiple boxes. Never had a problem.

Not sure if anyone has more info on this, but I noticed today that the app now says, "Sold and shipped by Nano Wine 'N Beer on Tavour Marketplace" at the bottom of each beer.

Nano Wine 'N Beer seems to have a physical store located in Washington but little online presence. I was able to find two Reddit threads (from the same user) from back in 2021 saying that Tavour was liquidated to Nano Wine 'N Beer and had cut "50%" of their staff and got rid of their Direct Beer branch.

Who knows if/how this will impact the offerings on the app, but I thought this was worth bringing up here, and I found it a bit strange that there's little public information available about this online that I could find. Google also sent me to a LinkedIn profile (I won't link to it for privacy purposes) from someone who worked at Tavour immediately before Nano Wine 'N Beer with the same title so it sounds like there is likely some truth to this.

2021 Ryeway to Heaven just popped up on my feed for $10.99/can, limit 6. I'm a sucker for Revolution (if you couldn't tell by my past posts in this thread), and this may be the best of theirs IMO.

An Anchorage BA stout for $8.49? Is this real?

The ABV is listed at 8.5%, which is surprising for that kind of beer, at least to me.

I'm regretting my $44 purchase of 2015 Abyss. I was wondering why it didn't sell out quickly. By the time I had second thoughts I couldn't cancel it.

Hope it isn't too bad, but I guess I'll find out (hopefully) this week.

Yea. This is still on shelves here ( and multiple variants) and at the taproom ( my friend got me a 2012 Abyss for 18 there last year)for 22 dollars.
    Hope that answers your question
Not worth that price at all IMO , but enjoy!

They put up a 2014 vintage as well. Definitely wasn't pulling the trigger on that one.

Seems they're clearing stock or something. Whatever. I still consider buying a bottle of Stone's Punishment as my greatest beer snafu. I'm sure I can at least finish the Abyss.

    That's the one.

Like drinking bottled GERD. Absolutely heinous.

Sort of, but not really. It's aged in an oak foeder, not a spirit barrel. Tavour keeps billing these ABC foeder aged stouts as BA. I think it's somewhat misleading personally.

I have cellared Abyss for over a decade, but now I only cellar stouts for a few years at most. I prefer most stouts no older than 2 years. I've over-cellared Abyss, and still have a few 2010-2012 vintage ones. To my taste, the richness of the malt thins out considerably after a while and the licorice seems intensified, but perhaps because of the attenuation of the other flavors. The fresher ones are richer and more balanced. Even the 2012 ones were drinkable, but shells of their former selves. I would not pay a premium for a 7 year old one, but if you already have it, it won't be your worst choice for an well aged stout. Some completely fall apart.

Abyss was one of my first eye opening barrel aged stouts and I still love it, but watch for newer bottles would be my recommendation.

Much lower ABV than those prior ones. So the starting gravity had to be much lower. Which means the beer needed less ingredients and was cheaper to make. Also in cans instead of glass they hand waxed. I'm not saying that justifies the big price difference, it definitely caught my eye too, but all those things factor in for sure.

I'm happy I've never heard of this clothing line until just now.

And the prices for some Anchorage barrel aged beers are obscene, but a good many of those stupidly expensive beers are top shelf. Nothing dumbass about that, unless you think everyone in the country that drinks Miller Lite is also a dumbass.

I'll give them an A for effort for trying to draw me back in - Paisley Cave Complex and a BA old ale/Stout from Skookum. Little do they know that CW already took my beer budget money yesterday for Black Gold. Suckers!
