Just saw that it turned up on Windsor’s IG feed. Def want to It.

On a couple of other notes, UR’s Hell has returned. Still as good as ever. Highly recommend.

Death Coast by riip and Ghost Town is a nice hoppy lager. If you love Timbo, this is right up your alley.

Yesssss - Hell is one of my favorites whenever it pops up in the South Bay. Once I track it down I plan to do a side by side with Green Cheek Bier. Each batch of Bier is somehow better than the last and the latest batch (1-2 months ago I think) is an easy top 3 helles for me.

Wine Country got them right now.

Bier is a gem. Might steal your idea of drinking them side-by-side. Did one with Bierstadt, GC, Suarez. Order of preference went Bierstadt>GC>>Suarez, not blind, however.

I prefer Timbo over DDH Timbo. Both are delicious in the heat. But I think DDH loses some of the flavor over Timbo. Not into the lagers/pils like the hoppy IPA’s. But learning. Death Coast is a favorite of mine. Most Enegren’s would be my go to’s, if found fresh. This is crazy but Beachwood’s latest ipa, Solo Magic taste like a very hopped up lager on steroids at 5.8. It don’t taste like a session ipa. Didn’t know what to think after the first couple sips. But liked it at the end. This is after having ddh Timbo & Timbo in yesterdays 86 degree heat in HB. What’s todays heat going to bring to the palate?

edit. Speaking of pilsners Beachwood Brewing has a new pilsner on draft, Pairs Well With Pizza a collaboration with their good buds & neighbors RiiP. A shout out to RiiP’s 2nd location RiiP Pizza in HB. I wonder if RiiP will do another collab with Beachwood when Beachwood opens their 6 or 7th location Beachwood Beer & Pizza? I lost track of BW’s location. Alls I know the new pizza joint will be well represented when they open. I so miss Gabe’s original Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach.

May I ask what '10 degrees' and '12 degrees' refers to?

Man was just drinking a Widmer beer for the first time in ages and for some reason this thread caught my eye.
    Does Sudwerk still exist?
I remember they were pioneers in the West Coast of lagers and looking back. I liked their Helles way back in 2003 .
I am guessing like many old breweries. Still going but faded?

Still around. Still brew most of their classic stuff, at least they did when I visited them in Davis a could years ago. And People's Pilsner is still widely available.

But like 5 or 6 years ago they started brewing a lot of "hazy IPL" and "pastry Baltic porter" and nowadays they just have straight up ipa in pint cans and kettle sours and pastry stouts. Their spot was packed in Davis when I visited though, and the board was mostly classic lagers

This seemed like a thing 5 years back, many older established brewers went after the young market.
Not really understanding that us older geeks with available money are how to keep it stable.
Widmer is just dead of course Craft Brew Alliance and shutting down their restaurant. Well at least the brothers will have a great retirement.

They're still around, but like previously mentioned, are chasing some of the trends. They're doing a big renovation now of their tap room/restaurant and they actually won a "brewery of the year" in 2021 from GABF and their pilsner took a gold this year. I think that, their hefe, and amber lager are all still pretty solid. However, I don't think their "trendier" beers are anything worth seeking out.

I agree now, but they had a run about 5 years ago of hazy ipls that were super tasty to me. I still long for Original Tall Boy in the summers.

But yeah, since they went to just straight ipas its been a long time since I tried anything

New to me pils from Moonlight. Super solid, no surprise.

That sounds really good. I'm gonna keep an eye out for sure. Does it seem like it's dry hopped Reality Czech or a different base?

I need to revisit it more critically, or do side-by-side with RC. But my guess is slightly different base.

UR’s lager program continues to impress yet again with Cali Pils. Put some respek (sic) on Peter Hoey’s name.
