I won't fool anyone here, we all know what this is.....

......back in "the day", Mother Goose released its BCBS on "Black Friday", and if memory serves, Founders released this on April Fools Day.....funny how these classic stouts went rarely seen, to readily available.......

Been drinking down my treehouse stash. Double shot and quadruppel shot are both great beers. Barrel Blend double shot was fantastic, I'm looking forward to cracking open a barrel blend quadruppel shot here soon.

A myriad of reasons that i don't care to post here anymore so i won't bore ya, but maybe ill come explain what i think of Double Shot.

Had a couple of Lough Gill beers @micada sent me this week.
    Spear and Shield.
Shield can hang with Crushing Mass and Cafe Deth. If anyone sees them on shelves buy both and give them a try.
Smashed the Narwhals and one Willetized he sent as well.
Finally saw 2022 Narwhal hit distro here and bought a pack today.

Good - this was a sixer of last fall's batch that I found recently. Still fairly hoppy, but hasn't hit that "awkward" spot between 2 and 3 years of age where the hops are fading but not gone like at 4 to 5 years.

But a few years ago I basically stopped cellaring age any stouts. So these will be drank soon.

Good to know. I finished all mine during the cold months not wanting the hops to fade. Hoping this is brewed again, a great deal at $40 a case.

    Enjoy

Hey Tomas @Resistance88 , good call on your part not wanting the Green Man Demon Dweller adjunct stouts. Cracked the first one today, an attempt by the brewing team at replicating a chocolate covered gingerbread cookie but it was not pulled off according to my palate. The malt baseline was not toasty enough to replicate the base cookie, the ginger and allspice overpowered everything although you could get a small hint of the chocolate and cinnamon. The bourbon heat warmed nicely in the afterglow but no barrel characteristics came forth in the flavor. Oh well, will try the other 2 adjunct stouts in the near future.
    Cheers!
    Tom

PS: i know Tomas you liked the base Demon BBA stout so i did try to track down a can last time in Asheville but was unsuccessful. Likely will have to wait until December for the new batch. Oh well.

Chocolate covered gingerbread stout sounds all kinds of wrong. Not appreciated here…LOL!

Yeah, still liked regular cafe better. I tend to like balanced or even small adjunct ratios in my beers. But let me be clear, supermassive was really good!

Avery Mephistopheles' Stout. Avery's marketing people sez "Amazingly complex, coal black, velvety and liqueurish, this demon has a bouquet of vine-ripened grapes, anise and chocolate covered cherries with flavors of rum-soaked caramelized dark fruits and a double espresso finish. Cellarable for 10+ years."
Right. I bought this about 4 hours ago, and it's in a glass already. Patience was never one of my strong suits.
To the marketing peoples' credit, though, the description is pretty accurate. It's delicious.

Oh nice. I just picked up cans of Shield and Cask yesterday, and I already had a can of Torc in the cellar, which I will consume this week.
