What's desperately needed is an Oregonian in this BIF. That could be a game changer. Hell, a Washingtonian across the Columbia in Vancouver could put a lot of Oregon beer into play that're not really available elsewhere.

Thanks for the mention, but there's no way for me to come up with the volume of good beer necessary to participate. A simple 12 beer trade gives me anxiety every time, as I have zero local go-to breweries and have to rely on distribution from other regions to get quality beer.

 

Miss you all, but my life is going to be a little nuts these next couple of months. Hope to catch you for #17!

I'm going to sit this one out, but I'm 90% likely to join BIF #17.

I learned last year that festbier season + fresh hop season + Zwanze day + BIF madness = hell on my liver, porch, and wallet.

But I'll happily spectate!

 

In order to make the box I’m sending out next week a little more interesting, I’ve ordered beer from a nano-brewery in Toronto owned by a couple from Nunavut. As I have yet to find a beer trader in Iqaluit, this is as close to a Nunavut ‘tick’ as I’m able to send. Cheers!

Sadly, they are sold out of their coffee stout made with beans from a coffee roaster in Iqaluit. Apparently, they carry the beans as well, occasionally. If they have any when I stop in, I will grab some for the box. If you can’t ‘tick’ an actual Nunavut beer, at least you can ‘tick actual Nunavut roasted coffee!

I read somewhere that in the future they plan to brew a gruit with herbs foraged in Nunavut. I will definitely be on the lookout for that when it is available for future boxes.


Edit: I just noticed on Instagram that they brought back an arctic flower called Paunnat to brew their Paunnat Saison. I’ll ask when it is expected to be released. Have you had a beer flavoured with Paunnat before?
