Am I the only one who thinks this is a "tongue in cheek" sarcastic post?

Maybe, we really don't know what to think about karma. Somehow it's interesting though to see it increase, if ever so little. So the advice to OP would be to concentrate on the number from now on. And of course not to care about the number, the best of both worlds!

I kinda enjoy tooling around town in my Corvette, and the tap list at the club is out of this world. Other than that, I just enjoy contributing where I can and learning more about beer, brewing, and venues from all of you folks here. Thanks to you all, my bucket list is growing every day.

I guess I got there at some point, but the beer kharma doth work in mysterious ways. There wasn't a conscious effort on my part. I'm pretty dedicated to NBS/W, so that now usually gets me two new beers a week. I post a lot less frequently than I did when I first joined up - no real rhyme nor reason to that. I just did what I thought we were supposed to do to support the site - post where I feel I can contribute and participate, add beers, add places, review stuff, be nice to legit newbies. Karma came and went and came back again...all very mysteriously. The Todd giveth and taketh away !

It's right on the line, staying somewhat credible. Sarcasm, jest, lampooning. Or is it pure geekdom? Not knowing for sure is as tortuous as the post.

I worked long and hard to reach Poo-Bah. I was fortunate in that I have always liked trying new beers and rarely drank the same one twice unless I was at a party. I enjoy most types of beer, even an occasional malt liquor. I took detailed notes in a spreadsheet, have a very good memory for the flavors, and was very OCD. I photographed beers and locations, entering many new ones.

Unfortunately, I have had to give up drinking for several medical reasons. But I still enjoy the site and, while I don't log in as often as I used to, the friendships I made through Beer Advocate are precious.

The day may come when I am able to drink again, but it will definitely not be at the 100 - 150 new beers a year rate that it used to be.

I haven't so much changed my drinking habits, in as much as my habits have changed because the scene has evolved and changed so much.

I use to buy alot of online stuff, and there was some trading, but now there's just no point as there is just so much good stuff and variety around.

I have toned consumption down a bit, but that's about it.

I am an older poo-bah. here since early 2003.
Used to buy beers just to review. Now if I do and a new beer interesting I will still review.

I just caught myself not remembering I hadn't even ticked Birra Moretti Zero. Saving the review to later. The point is that at close to 300 different NA beers it's already difficult to keep them apart. How do you guys with tenfold as many manage?

I don't. Many times I ordered a beer and forgot I rated it back in 2006..but it's still a good beer because I want to rate it

Your post allowed me to reflect on my own beer journey and how the "score" affects my choices. I'll admit that I would seek out flights to increase my numbers prior to becoming Poo-Bah.

Today, I'm more interested in diversity--beer styles (still missing Happoshu!), countries, states, etc. When I travel, I always seek out regional brewers/brewpubs. And I always get a particular joy when introducing a new beer or brewer to the rest of the BA world.
