I’ve had Orin a few times, but never purchased it. I’d say 9 of 10 brewers don’t even make an old ale so it’s not a popular style. This stuff would shelf turd back in the last few years it was in bottles. I would expect the same with the cans?

Cans definitely sold out within a few months the last 2 years. The waxed bomber format often sat year round here. Hell, pretty sure I could go find a bottle at a local store right now, but their cans are long gone. I think the quality improved the last few years, and the price point went down quite a bit with the format change.

If you haven't tried Orin in 2020 or 2021, I'd encourage people to give it another go. The last 2 vintages have been excellent.

wasn't 2020 the "double barrel" version?

Edit: I got my lazy ass over to the search bar and looked it up myself - yes, 2020 was the blended version - it was amazing:

I thought 2021 was brandy & Madera barrels? It was awesome too whichever year that was...

My favorite was the "Thai Iced Tea Inspired" Orin.

I called it "an interesting mess".

That cherry cola inspired Orin was the most dry and astringent beer I've ever had. I wish I had more cans of it so I could subject people to it at shares

Orin has been solid to great the last few years, IMO. I will say, though, that it took about 5-6 months for it to actually sell out at my local Binny's. I usually buy a 2pack. It's definitely worth it, IMO. And as everyone else has said, it's very BW-esque.

This is the juncture I'm at in my craft beer "hobby." Grossing my friends out. It's the best.

Now I'm curious what your choices are to do so. I'm trying to think of beers that would fit this category. I've drain-poured beers (plenty of times), but I mostly have done that because the calories weren't worth it to me for a bar I find supremely subpar. It's not outright raunchy, though.

Lizard of Koz was pretty bad. That'd be on my list. But even that isn't really offensive.

Yeah, Orin is a sleeper. It doesn't sell out quickly because it's not a BA stout, so it's a great chance for people to grab something legit off store shelves when they have a craving.

Sounds fantastic. So 4 packs to go? They switched it up from 2x 16oz cans to 4x 12oz I'm assuming. Wonder what the price point is?

If last year's benthic is a good proxy for this release, the price should be slightly above last year's $/oz, but nothing wild.

I agree, this actually does sound really yummy.

This is the most talk of Orin in years. Ya’ll running an Orin pump and dump scheme?

Late to the party, but I agree with this take. I do quite enjoy it, but I only buy it every now and again because it's historically been overpriced, in my opinion.

2021. This was a few nights ago. Drinking good. Really looking forward to the 2022 based on description. Maybe it'll catch that lightning that was 2020.
