I'm a fan of 2nd Shift and Perennial, but neither brewery distro here.

We decided not to wait an hour in line for a bratwurst. We will come back eventually though. Just enjoying some beer. We gotta use all our beer tickets


Red oak big oak. Great vienna lager. Great head retention and spotty soapy lacing. Muted Aromas of Munich malts, slight fruit as it warms. Taste of caramel, brown sugar/bread/dough, toast, nuts, herbal, wood, grass, pepper, pine, and slight roast. Light to medium herbal/grassy/spicy bitter finish. Medium carb/body and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hop mouthfeel. Lingering resin drying with no astringency. Minimal warming 7%. Very clean lager flavors with minimal fruit. Clean/rich Munich malts and balanced noble hops. Definitely their best beer I've had. Very impressive for the style. 3.98

About 3 hours ago I was done with the Phillies. I'm back on the bus now. This team has been brutal down the stretch. Would love for them to make the playoffs but not sure if this is a "playoff" team. Heady Topper. For no specific reason. Cheers!

Long, but fun day! Went to St. Louis today to pick up some Side Project beers with a friend. Stopped at Mac’s Local Eats for some food beforehand. Amazing smash burgers and fries.



Then stopped at Perennial for a bottle pour of Maman blended BA Imperial Stout. Extremely complex with rich barrel character. This one is always outstanding.


Then went to Side Project and had Anabasis Blend 6. Per the brewery: English / American Barleywine, brewed with English malts and fermented with a fruity English yeast strain, but hopped aggressively with American hops and then aged in Blantons barrels for 19 months and Willett Family Estate Rye barrels for 26 months.
Werther’s Original candies for days. Crème brûlée, fig, raisin, prune, brown sugar, toffee, earthy hop, charred oak tannin, big vanillin, rye spice, smooth bourbon spirit. World class BA barleywine.


Now back at my place enjoying a Riverlands Hula Hoop Champion West Coast IPA (Citra, Citra Incognito, Mosaic, Strata, Simcoe). Ruby red grapefruit and navel orange pith and peel, some strawberry, slight lemon, cannabis dank, earthiness, bitter pine resin. Proper west coast dry and bitter finish. Riverlands did a good job with this one.

Stone 26Th Anniversary beer is a lot better than the previous one I drank. The wife is watching a Harry Potter marathon.......for the 10th time so I'm watching NC State - Clemson and the Lemans petite road race from road Atlanta......

 

Red oak flagship. Good amber. This is basically the Yuengling of NC and I can't knock it too much. Refreshing and flavorful. Good melanoidin character on nutty Munich/vienna malts. 3.7

Founders Oktoberfest. Took a drive with my wife this afternoon to Saugatuck, MI. Jam packed with people. I thought the resort town would have thinned a bit this time of year. @jvgoor3786. Saw some very nice boats/yachts in the harbor. Ended up in Holland where there was some parking and then out to Lake Michigan to enjoy the view and fantastic weather. Cheers!

 

I was actually out your way to stop at The Wine & Cheese Place to pick up my Side Project bottles they brewed for the same occasion. I was at the Town & Country location. Great selection of craft beer! Almost grabbed a can of that, but decided to pass due to too much beer in the cart already. Sounds like a winner!

 

Not easy to follow up a Heady with a Hamms but I feel like I'm up to the challenge. Cheers!

 

I'm enjoying this first Saturday night of October, drinking an outstanding Stout from Foreign Objects, and watching the 1981 film Ghost Story with Fred Astaire, Melvyn Douglas, and John Housman. I haven't seen it in like 30 years and forgot how great it is. They don't make films like this anymore. Cheers!
