I had vanilla Maris a while ago, tasted blind I don't think I would have called it a barleywine. Brown ale maybe. I liked it though.

Holy smokes is this good. More flavors here than my lazy palate can identify; bit of a sweet berry taste, some slight woodiness blending with the malt base, surprisingly mild heat from the various barrels involved, maybe a hint of vanilla. Doesn't seem like it should be 15.7% abv, and I find myself wishing it was a big 750 ml bottle. When I think of barleywines this is what comes to mind. Full mouthfeel, warming quality, and no flavor really seems to dominate.

Was this a once-and-done or can I find more sometime?

Thanks @DIM! You are truly doing the Lord's work.

Hey, glad you liked that one! It's an all-time favorite of mine, one and done unfortunately. That one was a bargain too, leftover from the Beer Advocate extreme beer fest. $5 a can!! I am having a different double barrel barleywine, Stacking Casks 8, from Kane right now that is almost as good, though a good deal pricier. They seem to do a lot with barrel aged barleywine throughout the year and their website says they will resume shipping in the cooler months ahead. My only experience ordering from them was good, their rates are pretty reasonable. I'll let you know when they resume shipping.

Thanks, much appreciated. Any idea if they distribute to the southern end of NJ (I'll do some digging of course)? A friend has a house in Cape May Villas and always comes home with a load of NJ beer.

Don't know about distro but I think most of the barrel aged stuff is brewery only. They deliver for $6 throughout NJ.

Great looking bottle. OEC's sour beers are great, but this description doesn't sound like it was supposed to be sour. That's sucks!

Reach out and see what they say.

Uinta Barleywine Ale is a favorite of mine. I think they brew it year round as well.

I feel like their may have been some infection issues with this beer. But i may be misremembering that fact.
    Sorry your bottle wasnt good.

GI union busting aside, anyone know if the BW 2 year reserve will see national distribution or Illinois only? I have 2 2015s….need more of those too.

I think that’s the biggest head I’ve seen on a barleywine.

Not sure, but I would definitely assume so. We saw almost all of the variants in CA this year. The price is another story...

I've seen bigger and better on cellar temp Bigfoot. Easily the sexiest barleywine out there.

Is it still on their site? I wasn’t able to find it now but might be due to mobile issues.
