OK, so my last hint (#2) began a series of clues that, when put together, will reveal my target. My first hint was an extra. I might throw in some extra hints along the way, but here is hint #3, which is the next hint in the series.

As mentioned, your goal is to put all of the hints together. It will reveal my target. Is one just a distraction? Maybe. Maybe not.

I do remember that beer well. It was before KBS was widly released, and I had somehow snagged a bottle. I shared it with friends on a fishing trip at Lake of the Woods Northwest Angle. To get there you have to drive through Canada for an hour, to get back to the US (you can also get there by boat or fly in - like I did this year). My friends loved it also, though one thought it was too heavy.

It's amazing how some memories stand out clearly. Perhaps another interesting note on KBS is that @russpowell was the first to review it on BA, back in May of 2008 (before I even joined BA, let alone heard of KBS). @BigIronH is the most recent, March of last year. 2017 was the most common year for BIF participants to review KBS, when @superspak, @WunderLlama, @Ozzylizard, and @foundersasap did.

Next time you are at Lake of the Woods, you should try to have an order for the 2023 version of this oddity on hold for you. The ‘21 was a RIS, the ‘22 a Tripel. I’m crossing my fingers the ‘23 will be a Barleywine. I think you can even pick it up at their Minnesota location.

Hint 3: Scoring nearly 2300 points in 5 seasons with the Utah Jazz, Mike brown earned the nickname “The Brown Bear” from esteemed Jazz announcer, Rodney Clark “Hot Rod” Hundley.

If we're driving to the Angle, we make sure to stop at Lake of the Woods Brewing in Warroad - which is probably the most northern brewery in the lower 48, just a couple of miles from the border. I do not know if they have those at that location, but, if they do, I'd get it. In theory, we could boat to Kenora, but the past couple of years it's been totally impossible.

I know this is super important to y'all...

By my count, as of this morning, this BIF's participants have reviewed or rated 56,665 beers on BA. Only 1,357 of those are cases where someone reviewed a beer that @BBThunderbolt drank and gave it a lower score than he did.

Looking only at beers that both @BBThunderbolt and some other participant scored, where the other participant gave it a lower score...@kemoarps showed the biggest difference, on the beer Don De Dieu from Unibroue -- he gave it a 2.75 in 2013, as compared to the 4.8 @BBThunderbolt gave it in 2009. Runner up is @2beerdogs, who gave Budweiser a 1, as compared to @BBThunderbolt's 3.

@woemad has reviewed the largest number of beers with a lower score than @BBThunderbolt: 188.

Hint #1 - I'm shipping to somebody with higher beer karma than me
Hint #2 - I'm shipping to somebody with a lower beer karma than me
Hint #3 - I'm shipping to somebody who has shipped to me before

I'm not ruled out on this. Reaching me by water would be a helluva journey though, and include the Panama Canal.

I think @BBThunderbolt and @Victory_Sabre1973 are both shipping to Michigan. That leaves one additional shipper. None of the hints thus far have lead me to believe either of them is my partner specifically, though.

According to the Wiki, Warroad is at 48* 54' 19" N, and Blaine WA, home of Atwood Ales, is at 48* 59' 17" N. Looks like they're just a mile and change from the border: https://www.atwoodales.com/

Hint #1: the max output of the largest river in my targets state, is roughly equivalent to the largest river in my county.
#2: the longest river in my targets state is less 311 miles long.
#3: water from my targets state will touch at least 3 states, but no more than 11 states, before a river dumps it into an ocean.
#4: my targets state has at least 11 examples of multiple rivers having the same name.
#5: a river near (let's say 75 miles) me, the Skagit River, is a few miles longer, and has a slightly higher (let's say within 1711 cubic feet per second) output than a river within the same parameters of my target, the xxxxxx River.
#6 is an elimination hint: if the 115 mile long river with an output of 2261 cu ft sec, that starts in the Laughlin Range, is wholly within your state, you are not my target.

About 15 years ago I worked at a place on the same road as Atwood, so I knew it was close, but it's funny how the two towns are so close in latitude.

Off to work in a couple of minutes. One clue for you all. I will be out of town tomorrow, and might not be able to check in.

Hint #8 - Your state was part of the original United States.

    Previous hints:

Hint #1 - My target lives at a lower elevation than I do.
Hint #2 - My target does not live in the 3 states I've not had beer from (New Mexico, Rhode Island, West Virginia).
Hint #3 - My target does not live in the same time zone as I do.
Hint #4 - I've only been to your state once, on a layover, back in 2005.
Hint #5 - Jerry Reed had a hit song in 1977. Said song really goes well with what we do here. The title of that song tells you which ways I'm shipping.
Hint #6 - I could reach your state by water.
Hint #7 - Apparently my target hasn't had many beers from my state, or surrounding states (as far as I can tell). This will change.
