So far I am out on: Kemoarps, Woemad, Snothouse, Dimidiata, 2beerdogs, Beersnake1, Victorysabre, BigIronH, Foundersasap, russpowell, Roguer, & Macmalt. That leaves 6.

Now I gotta go back and study your earlier hints and see how obtuse I've been.

That last hint was the first I thought of. I had to come up with some others to fill the time. :grinning:

Been a minute, but I am getting caught up now. I was in a mind haze :joy:

#1 I am shipping north of my location based on Latitude.
#2 My target's style likes list has a lot of my favorite styles, but their dislike list has some notably polarizing examples.

Seeming as I am not your target, I will just say to the audience that any mead or cider inclusion will be rightly appreciated. PS Maybe we need to do a Schramms trade sometime  NC has some winners in the mead department, but haven't seen a lot.

I'd be interested in the process that is used to create BIFs. Enter names into a set as digits and create a random set in excel or something. Of course participant pool size will also dictate how many random arrangements you get, and what with it being #16 now, there are bound to be more instances with veterans of the BIF. It would be interesting to see the numbers. As for me, it hasn't happened; but I wasn't in all of them.

Thank you for the interesting information, but I am out. (I actually double quoted you while I was digesting the thread) I actually didn't know Ted Nugent was from Michigan; but it kind of makes sense now lmao.

When I was doing it, aside from requests, the biggest component was geography. After we were a few rounds in, I started doing "revenge" pairings; giving a former sender as a target. The biggest round we had there was, IIRC, 43 participants.

First thing I would look at is clusters. We usually had groups from NE, PA/NJ, MI/OH IN/Il/MN/WI, CA, and PNW. I would break those up first, and then fill it out from there. I didn't use the "no neighboring states" rule, because for larger states, say PA, the east and west sides of the state could have wildly different availabilities. An OH target could get wildly different boxes from a sender in Philly or Pittsburgh. Same would be true for CA and WA. Sometimes I'd give myself a target, especially when I was trying to get all the states, but usually, I'd use myself last, or to fill in a hole.

Our son rowed twice at the Head of the Charles. We have good memories of that event!

    Hint #13
Judges in my target's state really know how to party.

Virtually all my knowledge of such races comes from reading the book The boys In The Boat, which I recommend. Kind of wild when you consider such races were actually carried to national audiences on the radio back in the 1930s.

Hint #1: I'm not shipping to a point as close to the Pacific Ocean as I did in NBS BIF #14.
    Hint #2: I estimate there's a 77.78% chance my target is a Poo-Bah.
Hint #3: My state's flagship university doesn't play my target's in football this season. But they've previously played more than once.
Hint #4: Lots of talk of rivers on this thread. Assuming the delivery truck driver doesn't get lost, on the trip to my target's home my boxes will cross the navigable portions of at least two major rivers and perhaps a few minor ones.
Hint #5: Our son was on the crew team in college and we attended many of the regattas in which he participated. But he never rowed in the crew event located less than 10 miles from my target.
Hint #6: My target shares something in common with one of the founders of his community (besides living there).

Hopefully you are, because there's a lot of great beer in NC. I know I'm out based on his clues.
