I agree that's what I feel like the norm should be, but it seems like sometimes the accuracy of the stamp is inconsistent and sometimes it'll bump up against the lip and end up being illegible. But usually if I pick up another can or 2 next to it I'll find a clearer one.

I actually kinda like it being stamped on the side, I've never had any problems reading side-stamped cans, which I know KCBC and Equilibrium also do.

 

KCBC is the best, not only it is very clear on a side of a can, but they also have a white rectangular where the date is printed, so it is impossible to miss. Bottom-of-the-can stamps are often completely unreadable like the ones from Jack's Abby.
