Let me back track my statement slightly. It definitely has more fudge flavor. But otherwise it wasn’t much different than the base

I was panicked stricken when I read that SN was reducing distribution of Narwhal and Bigfoot! I haven’t seen much of either here in SEPA. I am thrilled to have found this!

i really enjoyed this one. not crazy thick, but nice notes from the barrels and the base stout had nice chocolate notes.

Tons of espresso aroma and flavor. Quite roasty, dark chocolate as well. Some dark fruits, but no sweetness. Thick and smooth mouthfeel. Proper imperial stout.

Drinking this incredible stout tonight. I have had the barrel-aged version, but never the regular version. This one was acquired from someone who had been storing it in their cellar - probably about 5 years old (although no date on the bottle). Insanely good. Rich dark chocolate, burnt wood, earth, dark German bread, sponge toffee, French roast coffee beans, and some dark plums and cherries. Wow. Intense flavors. This is what I love to see. An incredible base beer and an incredible beer aged in barrels.

You poor bastard. I've got pounders of BA narwhal, and 12 oz yetis and 1050 all over.

I'll be that guy, treehouses ipa is good, but their stouts are superb.

Haven’t joined you all in a long long while but this is a beer I love. It was brought back last year by victory as a special seasonal and this is the last of my six pack. It may not be back for a while cause they brewed a version with coconut and coffee this year instead…

This beer is very hoppy in taste when fresh; to me the bitter and roast shine so much better now. This is like a shot of espresso with a piney bitter finish; burnt roasty and delicious. Have a great week everyone.

Junechata from Transient. Imperial rye stout aged on violet sky cocoa nibs, cinnamon, salted caramel, and brown rice syrup. Yep, this is a sweet one. I love cinnamon in beers though, so I am enjoying this one. Super thick and viscous.

Back with a barrel aged imperial stout. River North whiskey barrel aged Mr Sandman. 12.8% on the label. The bottle is courtesy of @evanforbeer thank you!

    onto my review:

Sampling a 2021 vintage bottle poured at cellar temp into my snifter. The beer pours a rich dark black coffee color with a creamy tan head of about 1 cm foaming up. This foams remains as a sturdy surface layer and leaves dense lattice with every sip or swirl of the glass.
The aroma on this beer is roasted malt and some charred wood with hints of bourbon. I also get dark chocolate hints here. No booziness and the hops are not showing through.
First sip of this brew reveals a smooth texture with some soft spacious carbonation. The beer has a medium body and overall this is easy to drink for a bigger beer.
Flavor is roasted malt and whiskey notes mixing with some dark chocolate and some brown sugar. I get a good dose of whiskey on the finish. Not hot or boozy, whiskey flavor. I dont get the charred wood notes that I found on the nose. No hops anywhere on this brew.
Glad I had a chance to try this one.

If you told me this was a peanut butter stout, I would 100% believe you (strange). It’s pretty good, but doesn’t taste like s’mores at all. *update* as it’s warming i get it graham cracker a little more. But it really does taste like peanuts in here
