RareR Dos Worth

I think size doesn't matter considering that it is a giant compared to say KRE. I had a small bottle filled from a tap at another place. I opened the beer four days later after keeping it in my frig and it was not worth drinking. Figure some of the growlers of Rare and Rarer will be en route for longer than that considering Sunday and X-mas and some/lots of recipients are not going to be happy after coughing up some big time bottles for these. I would certainly trade for one but nowhere close to what people are asking. As such, I certainly won't be getting any. I really think that given how this great beer is going to be when it lands wherever, this is one where I wish Peg's just kept it in house and gave the great drinkers of FL more chance to drink it up.

 

Doug took great care in making sure the growlers were properly sanitized and purged. Unless there is a defect in the seal of the swing-top growler, this beer should be fine for months down the line. Although he did recommend drinking it fresh, as he believed it was in its prime right now.

I'm curious, where did you receive your bottle filled from a tap at a place other than Peg's?

 

A great guy I know sent one along for a bottle of Genealogy of Morals.

 

Sorry you can't believe that, guess you've had some bad luck with growlers. Do you mind telling me the other place that you got your Pegs bottle from?

 

Sorry for the confusion,I was not referring to Pegs. I thought I saw a post talking about the lack of counter pressure fills and the fact that these were simply tube filled or tap filled. Apologize if I am mistaken here. Tired Hands for instance will purge similar to what I think you are saying here. I have had conversations that purging might add another day or two. The places where they simply fill via taps, in my opinion, are not worth the time.

So, I would hope that rarer comes across great for all concerned, I would just have some concern. I saw that Peg's posted about their filling which is great. I hope it all works out but I still can't believe that these hold up for months.

 

I'm assuming you are looking to trade it.

Here's what I would post: "FT: Rarer DOS, ISO: New Trading Partner".

Choose a good looking trader that responds from an area of your choice. Tell him to just make you a box in return.

Odds are, you end up getting back what the beer is "worth" and then some. Now you've also made a trading partner who will surely hook you up with something nice down the road.

Worst case scenario that it somehow doesn't quite work out as planned, it's just beer...

 

With something around 800 growlers, people easily buying up to 5 or more and at around $20 a growler, i would say...something thats along the lines.

It was not that much, and the limit was 3 per person.

I heard that limit disappeared later on in the night after the first 150 people or so since the entire line had been serviced and they still had a bunch* left

*relatively speaking, like 3 cases when my friend left after buying 7

 

Yeah, they had a couple cases (12 per case) left after serving everyone, and that was gobbled up pretty quickly by some of those lurking around for the line to end. All in all, they sold out within an hour from what I saw.

 

I really wish there were more traders like you.

 

Those were the golden days for sure. Now it's ISO: Blabaer FT: released yesterday. There was a thread yesterday with someone asking for Loerick I believe for multiple growlers.

 

Yeah, its just silly now.

 

I think the only fair thing, is to trade beer released on December 21st for other beer released on December 21st.

Haha, I would probably do that if someone was willing to offer a nice package of their meads for one, but people hoard those things. I can get BB4D done with BA Big Sound tho

 

*shrug* I'd be perfectly happy to trade one (and expand the trade) for a combo of 2012 BB4D 4-pack (maybe multiples, absolutely loved the '11) and some BBBW; Barrel Solar Eclipse would be welcome too . I can drive over to CCB and get a BA Big Sound and include that in the trade also
