And it’s on nitro too. So is Before Land Shook, which was a nice surprise.

It's very delicious! I liked Sickle through Sable more than Before Land Shook. You really get a nice complex flavor from the Barleywine.

You can buy extra 2 packs of Sickle Through Sable at the pickup. Because I love beer and hate money I grabbed another.

When I picked up today around 1:30pm, they guy at the counter asked me if I wanted to buy more. I clarified if he meant Sickle Through Sable...he said "Yep!"

I asked for one extra 2 pack and he pulled it from behind the counter.

EDIT: He mentioned the yield was a bit bigger than expected, also.

My buddy picked up my order today around 11:30. Staff there told him there was a bunch of extra. They didn't mention any limits to him, but maybe that's changed as the day has gone on.

    Sooooo...has anyone tried it?

Apologies for the distraction from the sickle and sable discussion, but I finally picked up some Orin when I stopped by the brewery - $15/2pack seemed like a fair price point. Now that my memory is refreshed I feel like I undersold it in previous comments - it’s got a really punchy bourbon barrel character for anyone seeking that amongst all the contemporary pastry bombs. Just enough residual sweetness to earn the barleywine comparison but it’s own dry finish malty character with a slight expression of bitter chocolate.

I’m glad it continues to be an annual offering and it turned out to be a fantastic choice on this sunny and warm Sunday afternoon. Suggested pairings - apples and caramel, salty popcorn, and John Mellencamp wafting over the neighbor’s fence.

I know it doesn't matter, but It would be fun to see what everyone either (1) thinks will be variants or (2) hopes for.

I think Rye Benthic would be popular. @ShawnoftheD3ad @flat_lander
I'd put a high probability on one variant either having cinnamon or having an AB treatment.
I assume Xtra Dubl and/or Vanilla will be a variant.

They've had recent TTB COLA keg collar approvals for the following. I suspect one or more of these will be packaged as well. So I'll go with these three as my guess. Just do not ask for further details yet on the bottom two.

    Cherry Brandy Barrel Benthic
    Sunken Ghosts Benthic
    2X4 Benthic

I wonder if 2x4 is kind of like Double Dose or a kicked up version of Xtra Dubl. Maybe 4x the amount of coffee and coconut, or maybe 2x amount of coconut, coffee, vanilla and aged twice as long?

I don’t want to be a hater, but I don’t like this year’s labels. I thought the last two years were very good.

That's because it is god-awfully ugly. Looks like they asked a child without arms, legs or eyes to come up with that shit.

The first part of their post says vanilla benthic has coffee as well, but in prior years it hasn't. I'm thinking it is actually a typo, as the later more detailed part does not say anything about coffee.

Uh, I thought every benthic had coffee. It's always "base benthic" - which is the base stout + coffee + coconut, and then they add vanilla.

Edit: Checked my last can of 2021. No coffee mentioned. Good catch!
