Still drinking so damn good! Bourbon soaked corner piece brownies with some apple brandy on the finish. Incredibly enjoyable and aging gracefully. Cheers!

I can't begin to imagine how overly sweet these will be. The Utopian ought to be worth chasing along with the PB's and Henok

 

Yeah the Willy Wonka brewery is in full pastry mode as usual. Serious hard pass on all bottles except the two Pallbearers. My how the mighty have fallen. This brewery use to be something special

 

I think it all goes back to when Angry Chair came to visit and did the collab with them - Curse of Satisfaction.
After that they took sugary stouts to a whole new level than before.

 

Between collabing with Angry Chair and Other Half, nothing has been the same since and not for the better. They don't listen to their customer base at all and have not learned from their bottles of sugar sitting on the shelf for almost a full year. The quality of the beer they produce has fallen off a cliff. The Lager and Wild Ale program I feel are the only two styles still meeting the original level of quality and thats really fucking sad. They still have the ability to make world class BA Stouts and Barleywines as evidenced by last years Pallbearer Melange and Scowl but it seems they are content focusing on gimmicky scratch and sniff labels, stupid face masks printed on case flats and sugar bomb pastry trash. Maybe one day we will see a return to greatness but I'm honestly not holding my breath

Single Barrel Cognac Whangdoodle (11.5%)
Imperial Milk Stout Aged in a Hand Selected Single Cognac Barrel for 15 Months.

 

From the looks of the labels so far I believe Double Barrel Pallbearer Barrel Pick, Very Special Grand Cru Reserve Whangdoodle and Single Barrel Cognac Whangdoodle will be this years "Special Releases" of the bunch. Those three are the only ones that have the "_____ of______" bottle count on the right side of the label that we always see for the extra limited stuff. Curious if they plan to release those like last year and put a different bottle at each location

 

If there's something you need from RVA they don't get in NFK lmk.

Yeah I was pretty bummed to find out but this kind of thing is to be expected from them. Not the first time they had a super limited bottle offered along with all the other craziness. The Single Barrel Vanilla Sleeping Forever they did a handful of years back was limited to 75 also. I'm sure there have been a couple others I just can't recall them at the moment. Definitely makes this one a lot harder to get your hands on.

 

It'll be a crap show to get that one for sure.
