I hope Sunken Ghost was given the 2nd barrel treatment in a former use fish sauce barrel….

I suspect 2x4 was aged on reclaimed construction wood of that size.

 

Not all jokes are funny at the end of a workday when you are still sick and your wife is coming down with something fierce.

If anyone finds that joke in bad taste, just know that child surely didn’t survive.

 

...I like the artwork. I liked the last two years better, but I think this one still looks cool.

Granted, I am a complete FUPA-God for Half Acre's artwork, more so than I am for their beer. I may have rose colored goggles on.

 

I like the artwork and that the variety that comes from a design change. That being said the box better smell fucking awful like last year or else I'll be upset

 

And cherry brandy says vanilla but doesn't mention coffee

 

Did the box smell bad? I don’t remember ever smelling it.

 

I blame beersdvocate for not taking package aroma into account in the beer ratings and reviews…

 

The boxes always smell like glue to me.

 

Because they printed the inside of the box black last year it had an incredibly strong chemical smell from all the ink (at least right at release)

 

Well this years lineup sounds fantastic. Have loved years past artwork but actually like the change up and design this year. Those colors are popping!

 

Just think about how much box ink it will take to make it that bright and saturated. Paint and glue huffing season is back!

 

I am liking the lineup with Sunken/Cherry Brandy replacing Vampira/Rum. And last years lineup was great

Some additional details for the release weekend mentioned there as well for anyone interested.

 

Is a 2 pack of Cherry worth $176 and fees and having to haul a bunch of unwanted Benthics out? Wish you could part this out. Do they usually have these on draft release weekend?

I'm bad at equations, how many of these are there? 1 x 2pk 2x4 Benthic? (2) (8)= 16?

 

I'll be happy to take your spares, and I'm probably not alone.

 

Sorry for the dumb question, but out-of-towner who randomly be in Chicago next Fri-Sat wants to know... is this the sort of thing that will sell out immediately, or will it be available for a few hours? Have a small window to pick up some beer, and figure this is probably the place to be in that time frame.

 

Are you referring to the Benthic Box Set (12 cans)? If so, the place you want to be is on the Universe link tomorrow at 9am as that is when it goes on sale for pick up thereafter (Wednesday 11/9 until Sunday 11/20). Apart from that, you can pick up regular Benthic 4pks next Friday/Sat at the brewery (and then enjoy draft options as well) while supplies last.

 

The preorder is tomorrow at 9am and will sell out within minutes. If you miss out on that, you can always head to HA next weekend and I'm sure they will have most on tap for you to try there.
