Actually drank my last one the other week over a few nights. It was pretty great. Cinnamon was pretty tame at this point.

 

One thing I’ll say about Benthic (and it’s true of Deep Woods to an extent too although the release model is not analogous) is that you know what you’re getting for the $$$. BCBS, Cuppas, etc come with high hopes but not the sure expectations

 

Opened my last Xtra Dubl 2021. Man, this is such a good beer - I can't wait for 2x4.

I've grown into quite the HA fanboy. This is just so good. I've never really been enticed by the idea of a "liquid dessert", but man...Benthic is just everything I want in a desert-esq beer. It's nothing but chocolate and coconut. I'm totally fine going in on benthic and foregoing other beers.

Fuck. Now I think I gotta find something to trade for some additional variants.

 

So, I did it again. Opened my last Vanilla (2021). This is a great vanilla stout, but any semblance of coconut is gone to my palate (and I had a pretty fresh palate today, although dealing with a prolonged, ongoing sickness). I wish I had drank this immediately, but certainly within the first 6 months. Oh well. Live and learn.

Fobab really needs to just be a barrel aged stout release preview for Chicagoland so you can decide before hand which of the the stout releases you’ll commit hundreds of dollars to.

 

2x4, regular, Vanilla, and Nitro Vanilla Benthic are all on tap at the taproom right now. Mmm!

I thought I remember hearing that Catch Hell was not coming back. The single, double, and triple barrel versions were all the same batch.

 

the FoBAB check-ins of 2x4 are off the charts. i scored a set this year, and while i’ve had regular Benthic years ago on tap, i’m excited to revisit and try some all of the variants.

 

Damn, I wish I had more availability to make it up there to hit up these gems on tap because Benthic has recently steadily reason as a Top 5 release for me. I think I just finished the last of my 2020 and it's still drinking very well. Course it's a smidge better fresh but hey, who am I to complain?

 

Huge props for putting it on Nitro, too. I think there's something very special about these big, coconut and coffee-laden stouts when you pour them on nitro.

 

Half Acre lists it among their BA beers (of which they only list a few) as a spring release.

 

Nitro 2x4 Benthic might be the best Nitro pour of barrel aged beer yet...

 

Guess I picked a good night to pick up my package! Hope it lasts for another 30 mins or so...

I said the same thing for nitro vanilla benthic last night. Their nitro treatment is my favorite.

 

I LOVED Before Land Shook out of the can...on draft this is a revelation. Better than Vanilla Benthic and Vanilla Benthic is a monster. Contender for Chicagoland stout of the 2012/13 season right out of the gate.

And for Keeping Together headz, Watching The Mind, Watching The Body is a stunner. If you told me a saison with pears, masala (!) and honey could be this elegant, sophisticated and insanely drinkable I'd have called you a liar.
