Marlowe had their soft opening in Nyack this past weekend.

In kind of a weird lull right now. A LOT of places have opened in the last 3-4 months but now besides that Argonne Rose spot in Peekskill I think that’s it for the rest of the year. No new announcements of projects starting either.

    Some kind-of updates?

    1) Hudson River Brewing — which I still believe to be an elaborate ruse — is apparently canning. First run is gonna be a cream ale. Where they will be sold and distributed I don’t know because the fucking KGB is freer with information than this brewery.

    2) Saw an IG update from Port Schuyler Brewing. No info whatever with it, but they’re still planning on existing I suppose.

    3) At Seven Star Brewing now (which replaced Mad Jack in Schenectady) and you’d barely even know there was change. Which I don’t mean to be a dig — I liked Mad Jack a lot and Seven Stars’ beer is in the same vein and the space hasn’t changed a bit.

They're somewhere in northern Westchester, I think. I remember getting an ad for these guys on Facebook and trying to find more information. Their website is literally just a form that you can put your email address into for more information.

    Update to this update:

Talked to one of the owners at Seven Star and they actually retained the brewer from Mad Jack (and thus the recipes too) so it’s really just a new name and nothing else.

Which, again, is not a negative since MJ always did solid and underrated work there.

We have actual information!!! I repeat, we have actual information!!!

They’re in Buchanan NY, five miles south of Peekskill and only a mile from River Outpost. Open for can sales only RN, no word on taproom, but the great mystery is solved.

I previously posted about Mystic Ways opening. As @ESHBG posted in the SEPA thread, apparently Van Lieus opened this past weekend. As usual for most breweries, a bit later than previous timelines given.

Apparently Good Nature is like $5M in debt and behind on mortgage payments and the owner just got pushed out by the private equity firm that owns that debt.

I can’t imagine they last very much longer. I’m incredibly fucking bummed, the OG Good Nature taproom was the first brewery taproom I ever went to (probably 12-13 years or so ago at this point) and Annie was the first beer I truly fell in love with. I can’t overstate how important that beer is to me and to what craft beer is as a hobby for me.

Maybe I’m wrong and they can hold on but with PE ghouls involved nothing good ever happens for anyone. Fuck.

Got an opening: Runaway Blue Brewing in Newark… New York. Today. Easy of Rochester and right off 90. Opened by a former brewer from Young Lion and his wife, running on a two-barrel system.

Space looks really nice, I’ll have to check it out next time I’m out that way.

You talking Good nature in Hamilton?? DAMN, we're up there a lot and that's my go-to spot in town. Heading up there in about 10 mins actually to see my daughter. That's a severe bummer for the Colgate community, the town is lacking in places to go and eat/hang as it is.

That’s the one. And to be clear they’re still open and running (I guess?) as usual but when private equity bloodsuckers get involved their “investment” is never long for the world.

That said, if they go under you’ll have Bullthistle 15 mins to the south or Foothill Hops 15 minutes to the North. They’re not Good Nature but it’s something.

Im here now, seems business as usual. My daughter said she was talking to the bartender earlier in the week and they said they were going through a change of ownership, but regular patrons shouldn’t really notice a difference. We’ll see I guess

Saw this post and decided to take a drive over and check the place out. Place was crowded as you might expect on opening day. Small room and bar area, with a good overall vibe. Looks like they have some outdoor seating, but it was cool and damp yesterday, so everyone was inside. Service/servers good. I had a vanilla blond ale to start while the wife opted for the ipa. Both beers were very good. Second round, we tried the lager, also very good. Will definitely go back.

New brewery alert for Manchester, NY. Rebel Sailor on route 21. Saw a sign saying "opening soon". Looks like they've got everything in place, but are being delayed by license/permit red tape of sorts. A person with some knowledge I spoke to thought maybe by the end of the year. I know nothing else about the place. Will keep my eye on it.

Hell yeah, great to hear. Excited to check it out on one (or more) of my trips out to the lake next year.

Saw this place over the summer but they had like nothing on social media at the time so glad to see an update. And yet another place to peep when I’m in the area.

It’s THE most first-world problem but there are so many fucking breweries in the FLX now that even with like two weeks spent out there every year I can’t get everywhere I want to go. OH FLX/Frequentum/Young Lion/Ardennes are guaranteed stops every year but I also wanna do Steuben, Naples Brewing. Laurentide and Noble Shepherd and then I gotta try to do Mortalis/Okay Brewing/Fifth Frame/Strangebird too.

That’s not counting whatever new stuff pops up every year or stuff I keep putting off until next year like Silver Lake/Amber Lantern or Kent/Railhead/Battle Street.

I gotta find a way to just retire at 36.

Heck, if you’re going to hit Mortalis, OH, and Nobel Shepherd, may as well complete the loop with Birdhouse, Strange Design, and Rising Storm. Not to mention Irish Mafia, No BS, and Dublin Corners, all along the same loop.

Well see therein lies the problem: You physically cannot hit all of those in a day. Between travel times, you’re probably at each place at least an hour, gotta eat a few times, etc it’s not feasible to hit 4, MAYBE 5 in a day.

And that’s assuming it’s a Saturday or Sunday and they’re all open starting at 11-12 because it’s gonna be later during the week and that fucks with logistics too.
