Thoughts on Goose Island's 2022 Bourbon County (BCBS) Lineup?

I checked untappd for the Norfolk TW and it looks like all the pricey stuff is in the system. Didn't check if it was actually there.

 

The goose version does come with a variant - ALmost 100% for sure the BW or Anniversary, or maybe you get to choose.

 

TW is unreliable. I remember in 2020 I asked the beer manager what they were getting the week before and he went on the computer and just read down the entire lineup for the year. He started off with "Original, Kentucky Fog, #4..." but then when he said "Prop" I was like "Oh, he's an idiot"

 

Yeah,I think the pricing is the issue on why they are still available. It's definitely seen massive price creep over the last few years. It's great when priced appropriately- not worth it at that price for me.

Each time I've attended the take home bottle is that years Prop. Doubt it will be different this year.

First, NorCal Bay Area won't get much distribution. Second, regular BCBS has become more of a shelf turd which is why distribution continues to be limited. Third, it's good, not great. I don't feel the need to chase or pay mark up prices.

 

I spent nearly 3 hours calling stores this morning. The degree to which the 4-packs and BW is NOT present is overwhelming. -And disappointing. From talking with one owner, it sounds like at least part of that is by choice. Most of the people at these places ordering beer aren't big beer people it seems. So much liquor around here.

Some of the ones I called were big grocery stores, like Kroger, and you can’t get ahold of someone to save your life sometimes. That probably added 30-40 minutes of that total time. It was ridiculous. I felt guilty spending that time. Everyone has anniversary - few have the BW.

 

Well...2yr BW singles showing up on MBC ... Auctions starting between $92 and $110 per bottle. I was talking myself into paying half that much so.....no 2yr Barleywine for me

@DIM you ended up getting a pretty good deal considering all you got.

 

If I was buying any this year, it would only be the regular. Line-up is mostly meh...and the pricing is stupid.

The 4-packs hitting wide distro is something I didn’t expect. Wonder if they’re giving Chicago the single barrel packs and everyone else else gets the blend

 

Does anyone have any insight into what is heading to Michigan? I'm anticipating few variants, as usual.
